Democratic Behavior of Spanish
King Startles Dignified Min
istry in Dress Suits.
Snactal Cable to The Atlanta Georgian.
F’ARIB. May 9 King Alfonao’a
state visit to France came to a dose
to-day with a remarkable aerinl ex
hibition at the St < \vr Aer«>dome As
the Spanish King and his official
boats looked on one aeroplane after
another ascended until the sky seem
ed filled with them Alfonso said it
vha one of the most inspiring sights
he had ever seen.
One ,of the most interesting fea
tures of the Spanish monarch's visit
has been his extreme democratic be
havior. At Fontainebleau a gorgeous
stand decorated with the royal colors
of Spain had been erected in which
Alfonso was to have sat while the
troops were reviewed The chair in
which the King was to have sat was
of bronze.
An Astonished Ministry.
President Poincare and the French
Ministers, all solemn, obsequious and
in dress suits, drew to one side to
allow Alfonso to enter the pavilion.
Instead of doing so. the King ran
down to the railing, placed his hands
upon it and vaulted over the rail like
an athlete. Then he sat down on the
grass and glued a pair of field glasses
t«> his eves while the Cabinet Minis
ters looked on in astonishment
They never had seen a King act
that way before
Shakes Hands With Aviators.
After the aviation meet Alfonso in
sisted on shaking hands with several
aviators and mechanicians. His white
gloves were black with oil and grease
when he got through.
The French press believes that the
visit has ben of great benefit to both
FTance and Spain.
Before his departure for St. Gyr,
Alfonso held a conference with For
eign Minister Pichon. at which the
question of Spain entering the triple
entente with France, Russia and
England was discussed. It would
then become tbe quadruple entente.

NEWS ITEM—The Democratic majority of the Senate, in causes, has made a determined attack on the seductive influence

More than an hour was spent one day in a futile effort to get enough Senators to transact business at an executive session.

"If anybody will produce a public

The Vice President at first was in

The use of Sage and Sulphur for
