O NE of the most interesting
events of the week was the
marriage of Miss Mary Clifford
Cronin to R. C. Odom, the wedding
having .taken place on Wednesday
morning at 9:30 o'clock at the Sacred
Heart Parsonage, Rev. Rather Ouian
officiating.
Among the most delightful of the
informal affairs of the week was the
bridge party at which Mrs Harry
Young entertained her Bridge Club
on- Tuesday afternoon, at her home
on East Bake Drive.
Mrs. Baldowskl. of Augusta, will
arrive soon to visit Mrs. Joseph Smith
on Murray Hill Avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. Gustave B Sisson,
are enjoying a delightful visit in
New York City. They were the
guests of friendH while , in Detroit,
and from there went to Niagara Falls.

regular monthly meeting on Tuesday
afternoon at the high school build
ing, reports were given by the dele
gates who attended the Fifth District
Federation of Women's Clubs which
was recently held at Lithonia.
Miss Leila Barnwell, of Beaufort,
S. C., is the guest of relatives in At
lanta, later she will visit Mrs. V. P.
Sisson.
Mrs. Roswell King, of Atlanta, vis
ited Mrs. Harry Young, on Tuesday.

The Young People’s and the Junior
Missionary societies of the Inman
Park Methodist Church gave a Jap
anese lawn fete on the lawn of the
church Thursday afternoon and even
lng from 4 o’clock to 10. The mem
bers of the societies wore Japanese
costumes and they it was who served
the refreshments.
The many attractive features of the
entertainment were games, readings,
pantomimes and music. Appropriate
decorations were used on the lawn.
Miss Lois Pattlllo entertained the
Thirteen Embroidery Club of Inman
Park at their weekly meeting on
Wednesday.
Mrs. John Ray Patillo is being
pleasantly entertained as the guest of
Mrs. Schussler In Troy, Ala.
Mrs. S. C. Dobbs will give a lunch
eon on Saturday, May 24, for Miss
Lina Andrews and Miss Ollie Feweli
two brides-elect of Inman Park.

York and Boston and spending a few
days in Charleston, where they took
the boat for Jacksonville, Fla.
En route to Atlanta they spent a
day or two in Valdosta, ae guests
of Mr. Shelton’s parents. In the fall
they will begin the erection of a new
home.
One of the interesting events of the
week in West End was the family
dinner party given by Mrs. E. L.
Connally, the occasion celebrating the
76th birthday of Dr. Connally. The
guests included the close relatives of
Dr. Connally. among them being
Mrs. Lindsey Connally and Miss De
lia Connally, of Walker County.

The first of a series of pre-nuptial
parties for Miss Grace ‘ Abernathy, a
bride-elect of West End, was the
box party given Wednesday by Miss
Daisy Smith, at the Atlanta Theater.
The guests included Misses Grace
Abernathy, Maude Daniel, Mildred
Thebaut, Lucile Quinn and Mrs. Nor
man Poole.
Mrs. Howard Arnold entertained
the members of the O. M. Club very
delightfully on Thursday morning.
Auction bridge was played and Mrs.
J. P. Allen won the prize, a silver
spoon; the consolation, a cocktail
glass, being won by Mrs. George
Stockton. Mrs. J. M. Arnold won the
guests’ prize, a handkerchief. Lunch
eon was served on the card tables
at the close of the game. The house
was decorated with quantities of gar
den roses’. The club members are,

A THENS, May 10.—The marriage
of Miss Ethel Scarbrough, of
Columbus, and Walter Hodgson,
of Athens, which takes place early
In June, will be a social event of
statewide interest and will bring to
Athens’ social circle a popular young
matron.
The Georgia-Tech games were the
occasion of many society events. The
University German Club was host ut
another of its enjoyable dances Fri
day evening.
Quite a number of congenial parties
from Athenu will tour Europe this
summer, sailing from Savannah and
New York. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Bran
son will chaperon a party and Misses
Brumby and Gerdine, of the Lucy

Miss Lucile Peacock, of Columbus,

quite an interesting game was played.
Announcement has been made of
the engagement of Miss Martha
Horsley to Nathan L- Atkinson, the
marriage to take place the latter part
f June at the home of the bride's
parents, Dr. and Mrs. .). S. Horsley.
This announcement was received with
widespread interest and the wedding
will be the crowning event of the
summer in social circles, because of
the popularity of the couple.

this week at the Mitchell House
Armory, one on Monday and one on
Tuesday evening.
The dance on Monday was in com

Practically everybody in Thomas
ville has baseball on the brain just
now, and there were a number of
pleasant parties formed to witness
the opening game of the season here
Monday afternoon. Nearly all of the
society leaders among the fair sex
here are great fans, and even a game
of bridge has no attractions for them
when a good game of ball is on.
Miss Mary Eva Mallette. of this
city, will join her friend. Miss Nell
Waldo, of Atlanta, in a trip abroad
in June.
Mrs. Z. I. Fitzpatrick is at home
again after a visit to Washington,
D. O., and Atlanta. Mrs. Fitzpatrick
