Role Comb Barred Plymouth Rock®. Judge Marshall: Can you tell me where i can buy some Rose Comb Barred Plymouth Rocks'* I have been raising them for a number of years, and now 1 want to get some new blood. 1 may buy either the eggs or some cockerels to mate with what I have on hand. 1 have never .seen them advertised anywhere, but thought you would know all about them. I will certainly appreciate some in formation about them. Seneca. S C. R. B. JACKSON. Answer.—There is no such breed as the Rose Comb Barred Rock. You are either breeding the old American Dominique, which is colored almost the same as the Barred Rock, but has a rose comb, or you have Wyandotte blood mixed in with Plymouth Rock, and by selecting the Rock color with the rose comb you have what you thought was a Rose Comb Hock. The American Dominique i» a much older breed than the Plymouth Rock, but has never been very popu lar or extensively bred- It is a good one. nevertheless. It is, however, about two pounds lighter In weight than the Rock and for that reason has rot taken the place as a general pur pose fowl, if you are really anxious to have a rose comb barred fowl, k we would advise you to get the pure )oryr1ntque £did breed it in its purity, tnl&tN thair is what you have already ■Ve non I dr not tell without seeing what have.
