Druid Hills Parcel
Brings $100 a Foot
Or. F. Phinizy Calhoun Buys and
Will Build—Peachtree Road Res
idence—Other Notes.
REAL ESTATE FOR'SALE.
Dr. F. Phinizy Calhoun purchased
to-day from Druid Hills a large lot
on Ponce DeLeon Avenue for $21,400.
and will build a handsome home on it.
Forrest Adair. Jr., of the Forrgst &
George Adair agency, handled th$
transaction. The front foot rate was
over $100.
This property is cast of S. H. Ven- |
able’s palatial stone house at the
northeast corner of Oaddale Road
and Ponce DeLeon Avenue and is
known as the old Arkwright place.
Mr. Arkwright picked it some time
ago to build, but went to another lo
cation and swapped hip old lot to
Druid Hills for the new’ one. The di
mensions of Dr. Calhoun’s lot are
214x450 feet. Dr. Calhoun now re
sides on the north side of West Fifth
Street, between the Peachtrees. He
expects to keep his present home.
G. Arthur Howell will also soon be
n resident of Druid Hills, having
started recently a home on Fairview
Road to cost $7,500.
J. Clark McMichael has decide! to
go out Peachtree Road. He broke
ground yesterday for his $15,000 two-
story residence on the west side of
Peachtree just south of Colonel Wal
ter P. Andrews’ estate, half a mile
south of Buckhead.
Deeds Gone to Record.
Dr. W. J. Blalock, president of the
Fulton National Bank, has sold as ex- !
ecutor of the L. F. Blalock estate a
triangular plot of ground at the in
tersection of Whitehall and Hum
phries Streets to Alex Reeves for $13,-
750, $3,000 of which was cash. The
dimensions are 121 by 200 by 170 feet.
Deeds have also gone to record in
the transfer of 385 Ponce DeLeon Av
enue to James Morgan from Mrs. Ce-
celia B. Wallace for a consideration
not named. Mrs. Wallace bought this
property April 15 from W. J. Brown,
Sr., who had acquired it August 3,
3 912, from W. J. Brown. Jr., and Mil-
ton Strauss for $9,000.
J. J. West has sold to Mrs. Jessie
L. Thrash a 50 by 190-foot lot on
East Tenth Street, 50 feet east of Bed
ford Place, for $6,750.
Confirms Brookhaven Sale.
Judge W. D. Ellis, of the Fulton Su
perior Court, Jias confirmed the sale
made last Tuesday of the Brookhaven
Club to the Brookhaven Estates at
$90,000.
This was one of the details which
had to be cleared up before a transfer
could be made to the Capital City
Club, and the said transfer is ex
pected to be made in a few days. The
terms of the sale, it is said, have
already been agreed on. Possession
can be had within two weeks, and it
is expected that the Capital City Club
will make substantial improvements.
Hotel Planned for Decatur.
Decatur will soon have a hotel cost
ing $100,000, if plans of the Decatur
Board of Trade do not go awry. Rob
ert W. Ramspeck, secretary of the
board, is in correspondence with
Eastern capitalists who have become
interested in the project, and a defi
nite announcement is expected to be
made in the course of a few weeks.
Who Will Head Realty Board?
There is considerably gossip in At
lanta realty circles as to who will
head the Atlanta Real Estate Board
this year. The election will be held
In July, following the annual outing
Saturday, June 14. Among names
suggested are those of Harris G
White, now vice president; W. A.
Foster, of the Foster & Robson Agen
cy, and Carlos Lynes, of the Thomson
& Lynes Agency. Other names will
probably find their way into the list
of nominations. Ralph O. Cochran
was the first president of the organi
zation, and he served two terms. Then
came Charles P. Glover, the incum
bent. A ruling now in effect makes
It impossible to stand for re-election,
and this will bring out new candi
dates.
Saturday, June 14. is the date fixed
for the annual outing of the real es
tate men. The outing will be in the
nature of a barbecue, and the place
will be Cold Springs, where “Jack”
Slatoa’9 barbecues are usually held.
Mr. Glover and M. C. Kiser, chairman
of the entertainment committee, are
busy arranging the letails of the bar
becue, and they expect a record crowd
to attend.
R. D. Dorsey's New Home.
R. D. Dorsey, former Buckhead gro
cer and row connected with the W.
E. Treadwell Real Estate Agency, Is
building a handsome home on the
east side of the Ivey Road, 600 feet
north of Piedmont Road. This place
is north of the recently completed
home of W. J. Stoddard. The house
will have a stone front, the stone
having been tak^n from Mr. Dorsey’s
back yard. Mr. Dorsey recently ex
changed his former home on Pied
mont Road, near Roswell Road, for
several lots on Fifteenth Street.
