Delano, Former Manager, Now Owner of the Gaeat Concern. A Business Proposition. one of the largest and most profit able poultry fauns in the United States the Owen Farms at Vineyard - haven, Mass has been purchaser by Maurice F. Delano, for years man ner of the great farm Owen Farms is without doubt bet ter and more widely known from one end of this country to the other than any other poultry plant in existence. It is known not only as a farm raising the very finest stock that can be produced by the most expert and scientific methods in the hands of men of long experience, but it is a farm with a reputation for furnish ing the customer the thing that he pays for. Certainly an enviable rep utation. Some fifteen years ago this farm as established by William .Barry Owen, of Victor Talking Machine lame. He started out with the idea i hat it w'as to be a strict business proposition from start to finish, and no stone was to be left unturned that might work for the betterment of the deal. With this end in view, he secured the services of Maurice F. Delano as manager. In making this selection hf rertainly showed his remarkable judgment, for we do not believe he could have found a better man if he had tried all the leading poultrymen of thl* country. Superior Fitnes*. Mr. Delano has shown 111s supe rior fitness for the work by building up one of the greatest, if not the greatest, poultry businesses in this country, not only from the stand- lK»int of amount of buslpe^s done In dollars and cents, but In the quality of the business dost and the ulti mate satisfaction created in the end l^arge prices have been secured for the major part of the stock sold, but with it all has gone the stamp of quality and the guarantee of the farm back of it. It is not every manager of a farm of this character that is able to put up such a guarantee of quality and know what he is talking about, for there are but a very few who are such expert judges of the stock they breed as is Mr. Delano He is not only a Judge of stock and is able to make expert selections for the show loom and the fine breeding yard, but he is up to the snuff when It come* to- putting the stock in condition for the <G> <fl> 1 EDITED BUSINESS GUIDE Ready Reference for the Business Man, the Artisan And the Public in General Auction Sales of Furniture and Household Goods. White Wyandotte*. White Plymouth Rocks, and at time* a few others of the leading varieties, but these have had the principal atten tion and have been their leaders, Mr Owen took up the breeding of fine poultry as a paktime feature suited to a retired business man as he was But the business grew from year to Ve-ar way beyond his fondest expecta tions, and has finally come to the platv where he' finds it pi ore of a business than he bargained f<,»r, hence his desire to sell and take a real rest His luwt year’s mail order business amounted to $80,000. The reader can well imagine some thing of the work such a business would entail, Jyir. Owen has sold this immense business, lock, stock and barrel, to his business manager, Mr. Delano, and has leased him the farm with all its equipment. Mr. Owen says he feels that the business has fallen Into capable bands and will be carried forward upon the same broad lines as heretofore. We are not personally acquainted with Mr. Owen, but we have known Mr. Delano for years, even before he went to the farm, and we consider him not only a gentleman from every standpoint, but a poultryrnan of the first water. We bespeak for Mr. Delano un bounded success In his new' position as proprietor of the farm he has so long managed This transaction Is without doubt the greatest In the history of the great poultry industry of this country, and we felt that It was due our reader* to know something of a farm that had been built up from a plain be- ginnlng to one dutng an $80.00(1 an nual business Blacksmithing.
