Tract of 400 Acres
To Be Subdivided
Woodland Hills as a Home Neigh
borhood—Peachtree Widening
Postponed.
Announcement was made Tuesday
nf perfected plans for improving 1 one
of the largest acreage tracts in the
CAtlanta section. W. E. Worley, J. A.
^vi a honey and Eugene C. Callaway, in
terpolators of the Woodland Hills
•' T’ompany, will begin in a few*"days
to improve 400 acres betw'een Ansley
Park and Druid Hills, and probably
$40,000 will be spent at once putting
in 80-foot chert drives, water and
sewers and tile sidewalks.
This subdivision is to be known as
Woodland Hills. The developers have
^ consulted with engineers as to to-
Apography, and plats of the property
'will be out 9hortlv. The lots will be
large, and the owners expect to sell
them all and to have a thriving home
community in three years.
The last addition to this tract was
made ten days ago, when 110 acres
was bought for $40,000. There will be
a combined frontage of about -0
miles. The tract is on the Cheshire
Bridge, East Paces Ferry and Wil
liams Mill Hoads and Highland and
Moreland Avenues.
Widening Considered.
The Finance Committee of Council
will meet Friday to tlx up the budget
covering improvements for street
work and other city improvement,
and will at this time take up the mat
ter of setting aside $5,000 for widen
ing Peachtree from Harris Street to
Forsyth Street. The citizens’ com
mittee went before the Finance Com
mittee Monday afternoon and out
lined its request. V
Extensive improvements hang on
this project. E. W. Alfriend and Mrs.
J. B. Whitehead expect to erect a
twelve-story office building between
Cain and Harris Streets, and another
property owner has plans for a five-
story structure.
Building on Wesley Avenue.
Wesley Avenue, to the west of
Peachtree Road and a few rods north
or Peachtree Creek, is beginning to
rival Pace’s Ferry Road as a situation
for countrv homes. Among the home
owners on the thoroughfare are Gen
eral ('lifford L. Andereon, Clark How
ell and David Woodward, and now
t omes J. C. Chipley, of the Southern
■tell Telephone and Telegraph ( oin-
• , any. with announcement that he has
started a residence. Mr. Chipley s
house will be two stories high and
will cost approximately $15,000.
Several other property owners, it is
said, will build on Wesley Avenue
during the summer.
Warehouse Is Completed. ^
V Colonel John J. Woodside’" storage
warehouse No. 3, which was destroyed
y>v fire some time ago, lias been re
placed with a more complete struc
ture In a few days the warehouse
will he completed and ready to lie
used again. The building IsMoeated
oft Butler Street and has a great
amount of floor space.
Pryor Street Building Finished.

,, m1 rtakcr. has been completed and is
occupied by the concern. This

property is between Ponce DeLeon
Place and Bonaventure Avenue.
Building on Ponce DeLeon.
People traveling out Ponce DeLeon
Avenue of late have been impressed
with the great amount of building
tl la t is being done on that thorough
fare and on tributary streets. In the
neighborhood of Ponce DeLeon and
Rarnett Street and Bonaventure A ve
nue, for instance, twelve or fifteen
new houses are either building or re
cently completed. It matters' not
which way you turn, say file realty
there are more houses in process
of erection than ever before in the
city’s history, w ith prospects for more
in the future than at the present.
i Fresh Bit of Acreage.
, A 28-acrc tract on Pace’s Ferry
Road that has been in the hands of
the present owners for 50 years lias
been placed on the market at $13,500.
This is between "Woodlawn." Robert
K. Maddox’s estate, and the Howell
Mill Road. It has been listed with a
well-known real estate agency, and
has been suggested for subdivision.
