THE ATLANTA GEORGIAN AND NEWS. 17 Atlanta Real Estate Is Certain to Increase in Value. There Are Bargains in These Ads. REAL ESTATE AND CONSTRUCTION NEWS Tract of 400 Acres To Be Subdivided Woodland Hills as a Home Neigh borhood—Peachtree Widening Postponed. Announcement was made Tuesday of perfected plans for improving one of the largest acreage tracts in the Atlanta section. W. E. Worley, J. A. Mahoney and Eugene C. Callaway, in corporators of the Woodland Hills c ompany, will begin in a few days to improve 400 acres between Analey Park and Druid Hills, and probably $40,000 will be epent at once putting in SO-foot chert drives, water and sewers and tile sidewalk#. This subdivision is to be known as Woodland Hihs. The developers have consulted with engineers as to to mography, and plats of tl.e property will be out shortly. The lots will be large, and the owners expect to sell them all apd to have a thriving home community In three years. The last addition to this tract was made ten days ago, when 110 acres was bought for $40,000. There will he a combined frontage of about -0 miles. The tract is on the Cheshire Bridge, East Paces Kerry and Wil liams Mill Roads and Highland and Moreland Avenues. Widening Considered. The Finance Committee of Council will meet Friday to f.x up the budget covering improvements for street work and other city improvements, and will at this time take up the mat ter of setting aside $5,000 for widen ing Peachtree from Harris Street to Forsyth Street. The citizens’ com mittee went before the Finance Com mittee Monday afternoon and out lined its request. Extensive improvements hang on this project. E. W. Alfriend^and Mrs. J. B. Whitehead expect to erect a twelve-story office building between Cain and Harris Streets, and another property owner has plans for a nve- story structure. Building on Wesley Avenue. Wesley Avenue, to the west of Peachtree Road and a few- rods north nf Peachtree Creek, is beginning to rival Pace's Ferry Road as a situation for country homes. Among the home owners on the thoroughfare are Gen eral Clifford L. Anderson. Clark How ell and David Woodward, and now .comes J. C. Chipley, of the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Com pany, with announcement that he has started a residence. Mr. Chipley s house will be two stories high and will cost approximately *15,000. Several other properly owners, it is said, will build on Wesley Avenue during the summer. Warehouse Is Completed. , Colonel John .1. Woodside’s storage warehouse No. 3, which was destroyed fy fire some time ago, has been re placed with a more complete struc ture In a few days the warehouse will be completed and ready to be used again. The building is located on Butler Street and has a great amount of floor space. Pryor Street Building Finished. The building at 96 South Pryor Street, built for Harry G. Poole, the undertaker, has been completed and, is now occupied by the concern. This .'tructure cost approximately $^5,000 and is one of the handsomest of the smaller buildings on Pryor Street. St. Charles Cottage Bought. Mrs. Willie Mae Devi has bought from W. H. Craig, through the. Ralph O Cochran Company, a six-room cot tage at 174 St. Charles Avenue, 60 by 190, for a price not named.* This property is between Ponce DeDeon Place and Bonaventure Avenue. Building on Ponce DeLeon. People traveling out Ponce DeLeon Avenue of late have been impressed with the great amount of building that is being done on that thorough fare and on tributary streets. In the neighborhood of Ponce DeLeon and Barnett Street and Bonaventure Ave- nue. for instance, twelve or fifteen new houses are either building or re cently completed. It matters not which w T ay you turn, say the realty men. there are more houses in process of erection than ever before in the city's history, with prospects for more in ’the future than at the present. Fresh Bit of Acreage. A 28-acre tract on Pace's Ferry Koad that has been in the hands of the present owners for 50 years has "been placed on the market at $13,500. This is between "Woodlawn." Robert F Maddox’s estate, and the Howell Mill Road. It has been listed with a well-known real estate agency, and has been suggested for subdivision.
