The University Club has opened ne
gotiations in the past few days with
two or three property owners, look
ing to the acquisition of a home for
the club. The present lease on the
Abbott home on the West side of
Peachtree just North of Ellis Street
expires in October, Asa G. Candler,
the owner of the property, having
given notice that no renewal will be
granted.
For a time the club was figuring
with A. G. Rhodes on a location on
West Ellis Street just back of the
Winecoff Hotel. It was proposed to
build a suitable home for the mem
bers but this deal is said to have
fallen through. Now the University
Club is looking about for a place to
go when they move from the Abbott
mansion.
