REAL ESTATE AND CONSTRUCTION NEWS Viaduct Is Wanted For Spring Street Old Agitation To Be Renewed. Brown Building Changes—Home for Druid Hills. Things are shaping np In such a way, say well-informed real estate men, that remarkable developments may be expected shortly on the west side of the city. A good deal has been said of late about railroad operations, the proposed Bleckley plaza, which will extend to Forsyth street, and of proposed manufactories along railroad rights of way. Now' comes the an nouncement that the Spring street viaduct project has been revived. A well-known citizen Is telling his friends that he will make the race for council w^th th<» Spring street viaduct as one of his platform planks. A survey of the ground necessary for this Improvement was made by Captain R. M. Clayton, Chief of Con struction, and the idea Is for the south end of the bride to strike Madison avenue. There has been a growing tendency to bring the Terminal Station nearer the center of the city and nearer the Union Station .and advocates of the Spring street viaduct anticipate that such an improvement will contribute largely to this effect. The Bleckley Plaza would also serve this end. The Spring street bridge would be several hundred feet long and the idea woiMd be to make it uniform in height w^th the other viaducts. The Forsyth street bridge Is now highest, with the Broad and Whitehall struc tures about on a line. Brown Building Alterations. The block of buildings of the Jo seph E. Brown Company, on the north side of Wall street, opposite the Un ion Depot, is undergoing repairs to cost about $500, the metal cornices having been condemned by Building Inspector Hays. The old cornices will be replaced with brick and cement. To Build in Druid Hills. Charles T. Hopkins, the well-known attorney, will soon sell his home at 403 North Boulevard, it was learned Tuesday, and will erect a handsome home in Druid Hills. The Hopkins home Is one of the oldest in the neighborhood, and is located on a Ut 150 by 160 feet. It Is at the corner of Angler avenue. Loan Money at 7 Per Cent. There is no lack of loan money at 7 per cent on all kinds of Atlanta prop erty, according to S. B. McKinney, of the loan department of the Edwin P. Ansley Real Estate Agency. ‘‘Real estate is the best security for money," declared Mr. McKinney, "and I would loan on any kind of At lanta property that was worth any thing. We are getting money regu larly from several States of the Un ion, and this looks like a good sign to me. Frequently the loan agents don’t recommend loans on anything except central and semi-central prop erty, but I consider the * suburban property around Atlanta splendid se curity.” To Fix Price for Floors. The directors of the Chamber r -1 Commerce Realty Company are meet ing Tuesday afternoon to fix a price on four floors of the chamber home at the southeast corner of North Pryor street and Auburn avenue, a request for such a price having come from the committee looking for a site for the Merchants and Manufacturers’ Asso ciation exhibit building. Real estate men are watching the outcome with interest, inasmuch as the building will be a distinct addition to whatever district it adorns. Warranty Deeds. $28,000—James M'.
