Committee Asks Price
On Four Top Floors
Merchants May Be Housed in Cham
ber Building—Numerous Small
Sales Monday.
The Chamber of Commerce com
mittee considering a site for the ex
hibit of Atlanta-made goods in a per
manent building for the Merchants
and Manufacturers’ Association de
cided Monday to ask the directors of
the Chamber of Commerce Realty
Company to submit them a price on
the four top floors of the Chamber
of Commerce Building at the south
east corner of North Pryor and Au
burn avenue.
President Moore has accordingly
called a meeting of the directors for
3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the
Chamber rooms in the Empire Build
ing.
The committee considered several
propositions, but it Is known that the
members would like to be in the
Chamber building if possible, hence
the request. The Chamber, in this
event, would occupy the first two
floors of the six-story building, which
is now being renovated.
The action of the committee came
as somewhat of a surprise in real
estate cricles. since this site had not
been seriously considered until it was
mentioned Monday. There i« noth
ing to commit the committee in their
request. They explained that they
only wanted to consider the proposi
tion along with the others.
Numerous Small Sales.
Small Kites with a good total proved

Pryor Street Underpass.
According to information obtained
Monday, an effort will be made eoon
to have Council consider a proposition
to underpass the Southern Railway
tracks at South Pryor and Ridge ave
nue, while the work of widening, re
grading and repaving South Pryor is
in progress. 'Phis improvement, it is
pointed out, would make a contlnu-
} ous smooth thoroughfare to Lake-
! wood. With this work done, it will
{ be possible to connect up Lakewood
! drive and South Pryor with a road
way that would save many yards in
! travel about the lake. There Is at
| present no driveway at the north end
| of the lake, and the addition w'ould
put driveways almost entirely around
it.
To Build at Brookhaven.
E. L. Bishop is clearing a five-acre
tract at Brookhaven. opposite the No.
I 7 green of the Capital City Country
1 Club golf course, and will soon build

Pedder has a lot to the west of Mr.
| Bishop, and he Is also planning a
! home, it is said.
Ponce DeLeon Projection.
The upper stories of the Ponce De-
! Leon apartments are all right as re
gards encroachment on the sidewalk
at the southeast corner of Peachtree
and Ponce Deleon, according to As
sistant Building Inspector C. J. Bow
en. Only about 30 inches from the
base upward, consisting of ornament
al stone, is in the encroachment, and
this can probably be adjusted to the
satisfaction of the apartment officials
and the city. The projection is about
4 3-4 inches.
Progress on Peachtree.
In about two weeks, according to
Shelby Smith, chairman of the Board
of County Commissioners, repairs to
Peachtree wdll be completed. The
stretch from Peachtree Creek to
Buekhead is done, and the convicts
started Monday working southward
from the creek to Fifteenth street.
Sixth street to Fifteenth was fin
ished some weeks ago, and the re
pairs will make a smooth thorough
fare about eight miles in length. The
gap between W. S. Wltham’s and the
DeKalb County line, near the Capi
tal City Country Club, will be com
pleted in a few weeks.
