I SLE OF PALMS. July 26.—Atlan-

taking a week-end trip to enjoy the

Social life at P'ort Screven has
taken on new interest with the ar
rival several new’ officers and the
approaching marriage of others who
are stationed there.
First Lieutenant R. C. Garrett, the
adjutant of the post, is to be married
very soon to Miss Walke. daughter
of Colonel Walke, who was in com
mand at P'ort Screven until a short
time ago.
First Lieutenant Longino, quarter
master and commissary officer at' the
post, is to be married before a great
while to Miss Lila Evans, daughter
of the postmistress at Fort Screven.
Lieutenant Longino is a native of
Georgia, coming from Atlanta. He is
a son of Dr. Longino. who is well
known throughout the State.
First Lieutenant James Dusenbury
and Mrs. Dusenbury have recently
come to the post.
An expected arrival at the fort is
F'irst Lieutenant Crane. He has t>een
assigned to the Seventy-fourth Com
pany. As he is the ranking first lieu
tenant of the Coast Artillery Corps
he will be made a captain as soon as
he arrives.
An unusually large list of debu
tantes is promised* for next winter.
Miss Josephine Stewart, who is
spending the summer traveling in
Europe, after some months abroad,
will be one of the girls who will make
her bow next winter, and Mr. and
Mrs. Stewart will probably entertain
with a debut party for her.
Miss Eloise Knox is another of the
debutantes who will also probably be
introduced at a reception by Mr. and
Mrs. Knox. It has not yet been de
cided whether Miss Elinor Cosens
will make her debut, nor has Miss
Nana Hull’s debut been announced.
Miss Delia Lindsay is another
whose dehut has not positively been
decided upon, and she may travel for
a year in Europe before coming out.
Miss Edith Bryson will be one of the
debutantes of the season.

erine Charlton, Miss Inez Tiedeman,

The marriage of Miss Lillian An
nette Hoffman to William J. Oser,
of Boston, took place Tuesday after
noon at the home of the bride’s
mother, Mrs. Ferdinand J. Hoffman.
Miss Selma Hoffman, the bride’s
sister, played the wedding,music, and
another sister. Miss Fannie Hoffman,
was maid of honor.
Isadore Michels acted as Mr. Oser’s
best man. The marriage was per
formed by Dr. Jacob H. Kaplan, of
Selma. Ala. The bride was given
aw’ay by her mother. A reception
was held after the ceremony, and Mr.
and Mrs. Oser left later on a steamer
for New York. They will make their
home in Boston.
The marriage of Miss Ethel Dun
ham to Thomas G. Campbell, of Bal
timore, which will ta"ke place in Bal
timore on the evening of September
16, will be of much interest here,
where Miss Dunham lived for several
years.
The wedding will take place at the
Church of St. Michaels and All An
gels, and there will be a large wed
ding party. Mrs. F. C. Wilson, the
bride’s mother, will leave early in Au
gust for Baltimore to be present at
the w'edding.
A quiet wedding of Wednesday that
was of sincere interest to many
friends was that of Mrs. L. A. Cooper
to George P. Hamilton. It took place
at the parsonage of the Duffy Street
Baptist Church, the Rev. W. T.
Grenade, the pastor, officiating.
Miss Bessie Inez Von Santen. of
Charleston, was married on July 5 to
Paul W. Liles, of Savannah, at the
parsonage of St. Andrews Lutheran
Church in Charleston. The Rev.
M. G. G. Scherer performed the cere
mony.
Misses Margaret and Natalie Wo-
hanka are visiting Mrs. J. M. Row'ell
at Bluffton. Mrs. Rowell gave a pink
