M ■ LARGEST RESIDENCE
The largest private residence in the world is the
winter palace of the Czar of Russia at St. Peters
burg.
The enormous proportions of the palace are
made evident from the fact that in one room alone
the entire Atlanta courthouse could be sheltered
without inconvenience.
There are seven hundred rooms in the greatest
of all Russian palaces. It is said that at one time
7,000 soldiers were quartered under its roof.
Neither the present occupant nor any of the for
mer rulers of Russia have ever seen all the rooms
of this edifice. Yet, despite its tremendous size, the
palace contains treasures of architectural beauty.
