Turman First Delegate Returns Home—Wid ening for Mayson and Turner Ferry Road—Business Good. S. B. Turman, of the real estate firm of Turman, Black & Calhoun, has returned from the convention of real estate men at Winnipeg and expresw- es the belief that the election of Charles P. Glover to the vice presi dency of the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges will mean that Atlanta will land the ninth an nual convention of realty men in 1916. “Harris G. White, president of the Atlanta, Real Estate Board, present ed Atlanta's Invitation,” declared Mr. Turman, “and many of the delegates told us that they would gladly sup port Atlanta. Most of these were Southern and Western delegates, the former pledging thedr support on ac count of loyalty to a sister city and the latter desiring to come because most of them had never been to this section before. Winnipeg is also with us. “I am confident that We will win the convention. 1 left Winnipeg for Duluth a day before the adjournment of the convention and don’t know whether or not Memphis Invited the realty men. ‘We had a great convention and I was very much pleased over the work of the national association.” Mr. White and Mr. Glover are re turning to Atlanta by steamer and are expected to arrive Sunday or Monday. County Commissioners Meet. The regular monthly meeting of the Board of County Commissioners in the Thrower Building Wednesday proved to be of considerable Interest In real estate circles. Four or five delegations of property owners, prob ably 100 people in all, appeared to present various petitions for improve ments. The hoard voted to widen the May son and Turner Ferry road for a distance of about two miles in the Center Hill section, and to extend Hemphill avenue from the water works station to Pace’s Ferry road. The former was already on the sum mer program. A large delegation of Center Hill residents appeared. The latter is considered an important work because of the amount of ter ritory opened up. Plans for resurfacing several city streets were also presented. Work has piled up on the board, due to the fact that Chairman Smith has been away on a vacation, and the further fact that accumulated busi ness of the past month was brought before the commissioners. Peachtree Interest Sold. Clarence Knowles has bought from Paul Goldsmith an undivided one- third interest in a 100 by 562 foot lot on Peachtree road. 640 feet north east of Piedmont avenue, for $1,750, or at the rate of $53 a front foot. Mr. Goldsmith sold another third to Bryan M. Grant May 31, 1912, and is keeping the remaining third for him self. Sees Good Times Ahead. Gid Hanna, the well-known real estate trader from Oakland City, has returned from a trip to Gwinnett and Rockdale Counties, and declares that crop conditions are the best he has ever seen. “With a fine crop and plenty of Government money to move it.” asserted Mr. Hanna. “I can see nothing but great activity this fall in all lines of business. Bra nan and others of the local Park Board have a plan for using Lakewood for future expositions or fairs that it may be deemed ad visable to hold. The question came up before the Park Board at its monthly meeting Tuesday at the City Hall, when Lakewood concessions were considered The members **f the board seemed to be of the opin ion that no further privileges should be sold until it was decided whether or not the park could oe profitably used for exposition purpose*. Since Piedmont Park was divested of its exposition trimmings the city has had no place save Lakewood to hold fairs. Attractive New Building Typ«. A new type of business building has appeared in Atlanta, and it is proving beneficial to tenants who want short term leases* on vacant central property. This is a low steel affair of moderate cost that presents the appearance of a permanent struc ture. yet which can be moved on bhort notice. Investors are managing to get a rental of $200 a month out of a string of these shops in down town districts. Four such buildings have been erected at the northeast corner of Edge wood avenue and Equitable place by Andrew Gust, who purchased th^m from local representatives of portable steel shops. Mr. Gust ha* (f leased two compartments and ex- \ pects to announce more leases short ly. Each store occupies a frontage of about 20 feet, and is 20 to 25 feet deep. Continued on Next Paflet : .w
