Peachtree Road Parcel Also Bought.
80-Acre Tract of City Leased.
Seventeen Loan Deeds.
by
City Acreage at Work.
Eighty acres which the City of At-
hmta bought some time ago on the
Collier road will soon be made to
yield an income. The tract has been
leased to the Autodrome Association
for $750 a year as a site for the au
tomobile racing track which will soon
be built by John S. Cohen, John
Aldredge and others. The situation
is about one-quarter of a mile west
of Peachtree road. In the Brookwood
section.
This property was bought by the
city as a site for a sewage disposal
plant, but has never been used.
The presence of a motordrome In
this section, by the way, is expected
to draw great crowds of people' to
ward Brookwood, and to make the
street car business profitable. RppJ
estate men have not decided what
the effect on property will be, but
they expect some development on th«
road leading to the track.
Paving for Penn Street.
Bituminous macadam and not
chert is to be the material used to
pave Penn street, according to an
nouncement of Street Engineer Hurt.
The original intention was to use
chert or rock, but this plan has been
changed. The engineering depart
ment has decided that it will fie
cheaper to put down binder roads
such as were built In West E.nJ
Park.
Loan Funds Hold Up.
Loan funds for local real estat4
continue to hold up steady. Last
week the loans printed in The Fulton
County Report were not numerous
enough to attract attention, but this
week there have been an unusually
large number. Early in the week
there were 32 deeds In small amounts,
one insurance company making six.
and Wednesday there were 17. The.
latter varied in amounts from $150
to $4,000. Real estate men take this
condition as a good sign. When
there is a wide range of loans, the
indication is that money is easy and
there is plenty of confidence.
Referring to the 32 loans of Mon
day, a well-known realty man de
clared he had never seen a greater
number recorded in a day, and he has
been in the business here about fif
teen years.
New Ansley Park Home.
Building Inspector P^d H. Hays has
issued a permit to W. W. Brown to
build a two-story brick-veneer dwell
ing at 96 Prado, Ansley Park. The
house will cost $7,200. John Starr
has the contract to build it.
To Renew Mansion Fight.
Although the matter of disposing
of the present Governor’s Mansion at
Peachtree and Cain streets has been
set aside by the State Senate, there
is every probability that the ques
tion will be reopened at the next ses
sion of the Legislature, and will be
presented until something is done.
Citizens comment daily on the in
adequacy of the present mansion and
say a better place must be provided,
and these expressions have had as
much effect in keeping the matter
open as the desire of people to effect
a trade with the State.
The Senate voted 21 to 19 against
the creation of a commission com
posed of the Governor, the Speak r of
the House, the President of the Sen
ate and others to sell or exchange
the site. This action wap taken in
spite of the declaration of Senator
Miller that the mansion must be sold
sometime, and it might as well be
sold now.
Probably a dozen attractive and in
teresting propositions were brewing
among the real estate men, and these
will be shelved until the question is
taken up again.
