Obstinate Acne
Quickly Yields
! Fine Remedy That Clears Skin
\ of Pimples on Cheeks,
Temples, Sides of
Nose and Chin.
, Acne attacks the glandular struc-
( turc of the skin, more particularly
< those tiny glands that secrete fat.
) And it is here that S. S. S., tho
! famous blood puritler, is most active
i in its influence.
> There is one ingredient in S S. S.
1 the purpose of which it is to stimu-
! late th.- cells In the tissues that thus
I select from the blood the nutriment
> that makes new skin and thus elimi-
! nates all irritants, acids and para
sites that inflame the glands. There
is a natural tendency of the flna
network of blood vessels in the skin
to throw off impurities, but where a
persistent inflammatory process has
i invaded the skin, the natural re
pair work of the blood is interfered
f with it requires the stimulating
> activity of S. P. S. to overcome such
; morbid conditions. If you have been
i troubled with acne, do not despair of
! a cure. „ _ , .
You can get S. S. S. in any drug
i store, but Insist upon having it. The
S great Swift Laboratory in Atlanta,
t Oa , prepares this famous blood
i purifier, and you should take no
( chance by permitting anyone to ree-
f ommend a substitute. And if your
blood condition is such that you

FIERCE BATTLE IN CHINA.
SHANGHAI. CHINA. Aug. 7.—A
desperate battle between Government
troops and a force of rebels and mu
tineers is being fought near Canton.
Dispatches report terrible slaughter.
D ick Manchester.the Ameri
cus catcher, has hit his true
stride and is now the favorite
to tfln the Hearst Sunday American |
and Atlanta Georgian’s contest to de
cide the most popular player In the
Empire State League.
After running a neck and neck race
with Otto Jordan, the Valdosta man
ager. for nearly two weeks, Manches
ter's admirers got busy yesterday
and as a result Dick is leading Otto,
his nearest rival, by just 720 votes,
latest figures give Manchester 4,828
votes, while Jordan has 4,108 cou
pons to his credit.
Race Over August 13.
The race is nearing an end. On
Wednesday noon. August 13. the final
votes will be totaled and the player
having the most votes at that time
will receive a handsome loving cup j
to be donated by this paper. Votes j
sent in after that time will bo
worthless.
This means that Manchester’s j
rivals have just six days In which to j
overhaul the fast flying Americus j
backstop. The spurt that the Base
ball Popularity Editor was expectin?
one of the players to take was
grasped by Manchester. Now it is
up to the followers of the contestants
to get busy and catch Dick or bow
to him as the most popular player in |
the Empire State League.
Others Can Win Out.
"Goat” Holliday, "Pat” Murphy and
H. Champlin are the next players in j
the contest. They can still win out.
but It will take a great deal of hust-
ng to bring them up to an even
basis with the two leaders.
Coupon clippers had better sharpen
their shears for the final round. Re
member Manchester can be over
taken. His admirers will fight doubly
hard from now on, but one can not
tell what will happen.

let them pile dp Rush them In* as
