R OME, Aug. 9.—One of the pret
tiest events of the week was
Miss Margaret Hamilton’s

Mrs. Elmer Grant was the hostess
at a watermelon cutting as a compli

Mr. and Mrs. W. Griffin and Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Maddox have return
ed, after several weeks at Cloudland.
Last evening a number of young
people formed a swimming party at
DeSoto Park. Afterwards a barbecue
was enjoyed on the lawn.
Mrs. L. R. Yancey, who has been
the guest of Miss Harriet Benjamin,
has returned to her home in Macon.
Miss Mary Veal is home from a
visit to Atlanta.
Misses Blossom and Beulah Adam
son will leave August 16 for an ex
tended trip North. Their itinerary in
cludes New York, the Great Lakes,
Boston and several other points of
interest.
Miss Eunice McGhee is preparing to
entertain a house party beginning
August 12. The girls are Miss Lena
Fowler, of Appalachicola, Fla.; Miss
Eunice McGeehee, of LaGrange, and
Miss Julia Prentiss, of Fitzgerald.

A surprise to friends in Albany wag
the marriage of Miss Ruby Mason and
Leland S. Bussey, both of Cuthbert,
which took place In Dawson Tuesday
night. Until last year the bridfe was
a resident of Albany. She is a daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Mason. Mr.
Bussey is a nephew' of Mr. and Mrs.
R. F, Brimberry, of this city. He is
connected with the postoffice In Cuth
bert. Mr. and Mrs. Bussey have vis
ited Albany and Atlanta on their hon
eymoon and will go to other points In
Georgia before returning to Cuthbert
about September 1.

of Miss Mildred Ehrlich, daugh
ter of Ambrose Ehrlich, to
Leone Bracker will take place In
New York Saturday evening, Sep
tember 6, at the St. Regis Hotel.
Miss Ehrlich left this w’eek with her
father for the North, where she will
Join her sister, Mrs. J. M. Dryer.
Mrs. Fred Solomon, another sister,
will go on later for the wedding.
After their wedding Mr. Bracker
and his bride will spend two weeks at
Atlantic City, and then will take a
bungalow in Maine for October, go
ing to Cleveland for tw’o weeks in
November, and returning to Savan
nah for the automobile races at
Thanksgiving. They will sail De
cember 1 for Europe and will make
a trip around the w'orld. They do
not expect to return to America until
a year from next Christmas, after
which time they will make their home
in New York. Mr. Bracker is a suc
cessful young artist.
The marriage of Miss Willie Mims
and Francis M. Girard took place at
the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs.
Gertrude Mims, on Waldburg street,
Monday afternoon. The ceremony
was performed by the Rev. W. Moore
Scott, pastor of the First Presbyte
rian Church. Miss Mims w*as attend
ed by her sister, Miss Maude Mims,
an maid of honor, w'hile Mr. Girard
had Julian MacFeeley as his best
man. Mr. and Mrs. Girard left for
the mountains of North Carolina,
where they win spend their honey
moon. They will make their future
home in this city.
