The biggest cavern in tile world is the Mammoth
Cave in Edmondson County, Kentucky. It is near
the Green River, about six miles from Cave City and
28 miles from Bowling Green. This wonderful cave
consists of a succession of irregular chambers, some
of which are very large and situated on the different
levels. There are mysterious subterranean rivers in
this cave, one of which, the Styx, is about 450 feet
long. The caverns have been explored for many
miles. In its great domes the most startling effects
are produced by the use of lights and fireworks.
Strange blind fish and huge bats live in this Mam
moth Cave.
