Society will be interested in the an
nouncement from the Atlanta Athletic
Club that it will hold water sports
day on Saturday, August 23, at 4
o’clock in the afternoon at the Fast
I-ake Country Club
There will be nwimmingr and div
ing. canoe and rowing racea of all
kinds. For the ladies there will b»
50 yards and one-half mile swimming
races, mixed canoe and rowing an i
fancy diving.
Many society girls have had much
practice this eummer In swimming at
the various pools.
After the sports are over dinner
will be fierved on the large veranda
overlooking the lake and the usual
dance will follow.
Miss MacIntyre Hostess.
Mias Julia MacIntyre held a recep
tion Thursday afternoon at the home
of her parents. Mr and Mrs. D. I.
MacIntyre, on Peachtree road. The
honor guests were Misses Frances
Berry and Miss MacIntyre’s house
guests, Misses Conntnnce and Isabel
Franer, of South Georgia.
Marigold and asters were used in
decorating the house and the tea table
held a basket of the yellow flowers.
Miss MacIntyre wore pink crepe
meteor and shadow lace. Mias Con
stance Fraser wore white lace, Miss
I.nabel Fraser was gowned in pink
crepe de chine, and Miss Frances
Berry was lovely in white chiffon
with a sash of green.
Assisting in th«- entertainment of

Mrs. John Scott will entertain at
bridge-luncheon Friday at her home
at Scottdale. for Miss Julia Macln-
tyre’s guests, Misses Constance and
Isabel Fraser, of South Georgia, and
Mies Frances Berry.
Saturday afternoon Miss Constance
Berry will give a box party at the
Forsyth for Miss Julia MacIntyres
house party, of which she is a mem
ber.
After the matinee they will be the
guents of Miss Laura Ripley at tea
at the Piedmont Club.
Monday Miss Sina White will enter
tain for these guests.
Spend-the-Day Party.
Mrs. George Dexter entertained an
informal spend-the-day party Thurs
day. Bridge was played in the morn
ing. after which luncheon was served.

Miss Bessie Tappan. Miss Marion
Cook will entertain at a theater par
ty Thursday evening at the Forsyth.
Sewing Club Entertained.
Miss Annie Lou Pagett entertained
her sewing club Thursday morning at
her home on Forrest avenue
The house was decorated with old-
fashioned garden flowers. After sew
ing. a buffet luncheon was served.

icus, who is visiting Miss Pagett’s
sister, Mrs, Russell Bridges.
Dance at Crystal Palace.
There will be a dunce at the Crys
tal Palace at the Tech Friday even
ing in honor of several visitors among
the college set. They are Miss Louise
Hill, of Macon: Margaret Murphey,
of Newnan, the guest of Miss Marian
WooUey, and Miss Dora Candler, of
Dallas, Texas, the guest of Miss Marie
Dinkins.
For Miss Woolfolk.
Mrs. Virginius Hitt will give a
bridge luncheon Friday for her niece.

o’clock Thursday afternoon, Miss

matinee party at the Forsyth Tues

On Wednesday Mrs. Robert Morri
son entertained at luncheon for Miss
Specht. The table had as its center-

Mrs. A. G. Sehwltzerlet announces
the marriage of her sister, Martha
Christina Roesel, to Charles Fred
erick Dietz, the weding being a very
quiet one owing to the recent be-

Jacksonville. They will make their

Mrs. J. H. Hopkins entertained her
bridge club I lesday morning at her
home on Ashby street. The house
was decorated with nasturtiums. Mrs.
Mack Evans won tho club prize,
white and gold china, and Mrs. Nor
man P. Davidson cut the guests’
prize, an embroidered towel.

Entre Nou* Dancing Party,
The Entre Nous Dancing Club gave
a tallyho ride Wednesday night to
Silver Lake, where they enjoyed a
picnic luncheon. The party was com

The Civic League of Kirkwood will
giv'* an ice cream festival at War-
lick Place Saturday, August 16. be
ginning at 4 p. m. There will be many
forms of amu*«ement for those who

Auxiliary to Meet.
The regular monthly business meet
ing of the I.'mImm' Auxiliary of the
Young Men’s (’hristian Association
will be held Fridav afternoon at 3
o’clock at the Baptist Tabernacle in
Lurkle street. All members are
urged to be present.
Missionary Society to Meet.
The Missionary Society of Inman
Park will hold its social meeting with
Mrs. Harry Harris, No. 200 Waverly
Way, August 14, at 4 p. m. All ladies
are invited.
Dr. John Phelps has returned from
a month’s vacation In Kentucky.
Mr. and Mrs. Osgood Chambers will
go to Nacooehee Valley after a week
spent at Demorest.
Miss Frances Berry will leave soon
for Smith College, where she will
study this winter.
Miss Marian Fielder has returned
fiom Tallulah Falls. She was the
guest at a camping party given by
Master Harry Butler, of Savannah,
is spending the summer with his
aunt, Mrs Lula L. Murphy, at the

Mrs. Eustice A. Speer has gone to
Virginia. She will be entertained by

Rifled by Burglars!
Burglars operated in Atlanta again
Wednesday night, a Greek restaurant
at 34 Walton street and the Red
Cross Pharmacy at Marietta street
and Bellwood avenue being robbed.
The restaurant was entered by
breaking open the rear door. Fifteen
dollars was taken from the cash reg
ister here. At the pharmacy a win
dow was broken and $1.90 obtained.
BOY TRIPLETS BORN.
CLEVELAND, GA., Aug. 14.—Three
sons have Just been born to Mr. and
Mrs, Wade Heed, near Cleveland. Two
of the little boys weighed 7 pounds each
and the other one 6 pounds.
