F. M. Robinson, secretary and
treasurer of the Coca-Cola Company,
bought Monday from J. B. Hightower,
through Charles E. DuPree, of tha
W. L. & John O. DuPree Real Estate
Agency, Mr. Hightower’s handsome
two-story residence on the Briarclilf
road in the Druid Hills section, for
$30,000 cash, or at the rate of $200 a
front foot, including the value of the
dwelling. Mr. Robinson now resides
at No. 172 Forrest avenue, but he
will move into his new home at once,
and Mr. Hightower is expected
build again.
This lot is 150 by 300 feet and is
near the homes of Judge John S. Can
dler and.J. M. Stephenson. The house
is a red brick veneer of ten rooms
.and has a tile roof. Briarcliff roai
was formerly North Moreland avenua.
Mr. Hightower preferred $6,000 cash
and the balance in one, two and three
years, but there was no loan on the

Labor Day’s Interruption.
Labor Day Monday closed all the
banks and the City Hall, and there
was a temporary cessation in general
real estate trading. The agents re
port a bigger number of inquiries,
however, than at any time during the
past few months, and it is expected
that the fall trade will be brisk.
Much County Work.
Fulton County’s convicts are un
usually busy at this time on streets,
roads and sewers. Shelby Smith,
chairman of the Board of County
Commissioners, reports that Simpson
street paving was far west as the
Louisville and Nashville Railroad,
and the Jonesboro road paving will
be completed this w r eek. A lease con
tract has been signed with the Nich
ols Construction Company for a steam
shovel for excavating o he McDan
iel street sewer The s«rwer will be
continued 2,000 feet from the pres
ent outfall to the Atlanta and West
Point Belt Line.
The other county steam shovel Is
on the Butler street and Highland
avenue sewer work.
W. P. Walthall Returns.
W. P. Walthall, of the Forrest <Kc

Public Sales Tuesday.
Tuesday is legal sales day at the
Fulton County courthouse and a large

Much Stone for Walls.
Fourteen hundred tons of stone
will be required for the retaining
walls being erected for West Peach
tree regrading. The material has
been furnished from the quarry at
Lithonia.
Marietta Auction Tuesday.
A large number of Atlanta people
have signified their intention of attend
ing Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock the
auction sale of eighteen acreage tracts
which J. B. Jackson will sell in the
McCravy subdivision. The auction will
be held before the courthouse door at
Marietta.
The tracts contain from one to twenty
acres, and front the Marietta electric
car line at Turner's Crossing and Fair
Oaks, three miles south of Marietta.
Hugh Richardson Returns.
Hugh Richardson returned from
Toxawny Sunday and was in his office
in the Atlanta National Bank Build
ing Monday morning. Mr. Richard
son has built a summer cottage at
Toxaway and has been out of the local
real estate market some time, but is
expected soon to announce some in
teresting deals.
FORSYTH SCHOOL OPENS.
FORSYTH.—The opening exercises
of Banks Stephens Institute took
place to-day in the new $30,000 build
ing that has Just been completed.
Professor J. R. Campbell, formerly of
Jonesboro, the new principal, and Dr.
W. N. Ainsworth, formerly president
of Wesleyan Female College in Ma
con, delivered addresses.

Georgia’s musical coterie will be in
creased this winter by the addition of
Dr. Henry G. Hanchett, who will tak©
charge of the normal department of
the Brenau Conservatory at Gaines
ville.
The announcement has been receiv
ed with widespread interest by mu
sicians and lovers of music, as Dr.
Hanchett is prominent in musical cir
cles.
He is well known as an author, his
book, “The Art of the Musician,’’ hav
ing attracted favorable attention, as
have also his magazine articles on
musical subjects. He is already well
known to Southern teachers through
his connection with the Monteagle
Chautauqua.
Professor Otto Pfefferkorm, who
has been with the conservatory sev
eral years, remains director of music.
