Property Advances $15,000.
The Henry H. Cabaniss home at
762 Peachtree, formerly owned and
occupied by Blanton Fortson, now' of
Athens, has increased in value ap
proximately $3,000 a year since Mr.
Cabaniss bought it five years ago. It
has been sold at $40,000 trading price
to George W. Parrott, w’hose real es
tate and building operations in the
past few r weeks have excited more
than ordinary interest.
Two months ago Mr. Cabaniss re
fused $37,500 cash for this lot, pre
ferring to hold and swap wdth Mr.
Parrott. Mr. Parrott gave in part
payment his home at No. 671 Pied
mont avenue, between Fifth and Sixth
streets, and it w r as Mr. Cabaniss who
persuaded him to give up his plan to
erect a one-story bungalow' at a cost
of $12,000 on the northwest corner of
Peachtree and Seventh streets. The
bungalow** stone foundations were
laid when the workmen were called
off.
Now Seventh street has been cut
through to West Peachtree, and this
gives Mr. Parrott a corner value that
will enable him to lease at 99 years
on much better terms than would
have been possible otherwise with the
Goode property.
Both the Goode corner and the Cab-
anlss lot are in an exclusive neigh
borhood, which has been marked a
long time for improvement with a
big apartment house. The Cabaniss
place adjoins the John D. Little resi
dence at the northwest corner of
Peachtree and Eighth streets. It was
reported sold some months ago to
John G. Bifrckhardt for $36,000, but
the papers were never transferred.
