To Enlarge Buildings.
Emil C. Selz, representing George
W. Parrott as architect, paid a visit
to the Building Inspector's office
Monday morning to announce that
Mr. Parrott’s apartment house at the
southeast comer of Peachtree street
and Peachtree circle, Ansley Park,
will probably be five stories instead of
three. The cost of three stories would
have been $30,000, and at this rate
the larger structure will be $60,000.
The apartment, said Mr. Seiz, will
be fireproof and one of the finest in
the city.
Plans have already been taken up
with the building department for the
enlargem<#it of a building at Fairlie
and Poplar streets by W. M. Crum
ley. This structure Is two stories and
basement now and three more stories
will be added at a cost of $20,000.

Picture Show Discontinues.
Moving picture shows can't pay
very much longer increased rents on
Peachtree, according to William Old-
know, lessee of the property which
Mrs. H. R. Berry owns at No. 99
Peachtree, foot of Luckie street. Mr.
Oldknow declared that he was unable
to meet an advance to $10,000 a year
and would have to go out of the busi
ness, for a while at least.
This location will be taken by a lo
cal drug concern, which has leased it
through Homer A. McAfee, of the
Haas & McIntyre Agency, for ten
years. The rental for three years will
he $10,000 a year, for the following
tw'o years $10,500 and for the last five
years $11,500, a total of $108,500. The
lot Is 28 by 100 feet.
Mr. Oldknow has been approached
to sell his lease, which runs until

Wallace Ordered to
Pay Wife $25 Month
An order fixing $25 per month as
alimony, pending decision on suit for
divorce against Andrew Wallace, has
been handed down by Judge Bell in
the Superior Court. The first intall-
ment, which Wallace is reported as
declaring he will never pay, even if
he has to go to Jail, Is due October L
Wallace fought the order before
Judge Bell last week and ijiade the
declaration to the court, it is under
stood.

Son Weds Waitress
PATERSON, Sept. 15.—Walter
Schumann-Heink, son of the famous
opera contralto, w r as married in Chi
cago July 25 to Mies Daisy Marcus,
until recently a waitress in the res
taurant kept by her father, William
Marcus, in this city. The news of the
marriage did not become public until
to-day.

John D. Rockefeller and a party of
five were put off the public square In
Bedford, where they went to attend
the Bedford ’’home-coming” celebra
tion.
The oil magnate and his party were
driven in a big red automobile to the
main street curb on the public square,
but a constable quickly ordered them
away, as vehicles are not allowed to
stand in the square.
The car wan driven Into a side
street. Rockefeller shook hands with
Fred B. Senter, president of the
Franklin Oil Company, and then tho
machine was driven away, Rockefel
ler declining, with a shake of the

East Side Children
Mourn for Gaynor
NEW YORK, Sept. 15.—The death
of Mayor William J. Gaynor has
caused sorrow among the children of
the East Side. Expressions of their
sorrow and sympathy w*ere conveyed
to Mrs. Gaynor in a letter delivered
yesterday at her Brooklyn home by a
delegation of ten little,boys.
The letter speaks of Mr. Gaynor as
"indeed a champion of the weak and
defenseless,” and says that his death
is regarded by the East Side as an
"irretrievable loss.”
Another Big Slide
Goes Into Culebra

PANAMA, Sept. 16.—Another slide
on the east bank of Culebra cut near
Gold Hill cast 200 cubic yards of rock
and earth into the canal bed.
It is not believed that this slide will
delay the flooding of the cut in Oc
tober, but it is expected that other
slides may follow, as several million
cubic yards of earth are in motion
on Gold Hill.'
Conductor Is Held
For $16,000 Robbery
GREENVILLE. S. C., Sept. 15.—
J. B. Tipton, a Southern Railway
conductor, w r ho had been held on a
charge of alleged complicity in the
$16,000 robbery at Parr Shoals, on
September 5. was taken to Columbia
last night by an officer of the Co
lumbia police department.
Tipton stoutly denies all knowledge
of the hold-up. He was arrested by
Burns detectives from Atlanta.

ROGERS, ARK., Sept. 15.—Wolves
and wildcats, which Infest the
swamps surrounding this place, have
become so plentiful and daring that
they axe a menace to live stock and
even the farmers’ families.
One large ranch near here has been
forced out of business by the raiders.
More than 1,000 goats had been slain
by wild beasts when the owner sold
the remainder and closed the ranch.

Tries to Kill Entire
