It is claimed that the real reason

“These bonds, it is saW, are to be
secured with the customs receipts of
Nicaragua on which Zelaya gave a
prior lien amounting to 51 per cent
on a bond sanctioned by him when
President. Zelaya is alleged to have
come to this country to dispose of
$750,000 worth of these bonds in his
possession, payment on which has
been stopped by Nicaragua.
In the hands of an American the I
claim could be taken up by the State
Department at Washington for set
tlement, which again might render
operative the 51 per cent lien and
defeat the Brown Bros, issue. The
matter was brought to the attention
of Solicitor Folk, of the State De

express confidence in the acquittal
of their client.
