Bong, superintendent.” The board of missions represent ing the Baptists of Georgia his is sued an appeal for $200,000, to be used in furthering the work of the Georgia Baptist Hospital of Atlanta. The object is to make it one of the most complete infirmaries in the world, and an equal in every respect to the great Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Already doing a great work, it Is planned to make the hospital most complete and make It possible for every 111 person, whether possessed of funds or not, to have the best attention for medical aid to give. At the recent Georgia Baptist Con vention at Gainervllle the stamp of approval was placed upon this work and a place given the hospital along with the other great enterprise* fos tered by the denomination. The hospital dates Its history from July 2, 1902, when the Rev. Len G. Broughton opened It In a small building fit No. 42 Spring street One patient was entered by Dr. R R Fvlme that day. In May, 1903, the hospital was moved to No. 69 Buckle street and under the direction of Dr. Broughton grew in popularity find usefulness, in 1908 the present home of the hospital, a three-story brick building, was erected at No. 92 Ruckle street In March, 1913, the board of mi«- alons came Into possession of the hospital, acting under Instructions of the Georgia Baptist Convention, pay ing the Tabernacle Baptist Church $86,000. V charter wat* taken out for the institution under the name of the Georgia Baptist Hospital. (Hiring its existence more than 6.000 patients have been treated; the- total income has been $260,000. while more than $80,000 has been spent 1n the treating of charity patients alone.
