Power Firm Attorney and City
Official Promise to Prove
Counter Charges,
A fight which already has attract
ed much attention will start In ear
nest Monday when the City Board of
Klectrteal Control and the Council
Electric Eights Committee starts Its
Inquiry of the official conduct of City
Electrician Turner.
Aldlne Chambers, as attorney for
th© Cotton States Electric Company,
will take the of prosecutor. He
declared Saturday that he was ready
to prove his charges that "Turner Is
a liar, blackguard and grafter;" and
the City Electrician has announced
that he will do some Investigating of
the attorney.
The investigation promises to throw
some Interesting light on the opera
tions of an organization of electrical
contractors known as the Elektron
Company.
The charge of Chambers is that the
Cotton Statds Electric Company
withdrew from the organization for
business reasons, and that Turner
thereafter began a persecution of his
client.
The sinister phase of the case is
that Mr. Chambers asserts he will
prove that Electrician Turner has re
ceived gifts and money from the as
sociation.
Jn answer to this the City Electri
cian ha* announced that h© will ask
Mr. Chambers if he did not receive
campaign donations from the Georgia
Railway and Power Company, and,
with two other officials, accept a sum
of money from a representative of
the Barber Asphalt Company in New
York in the summer of 1912.
