'Oglethorpe Victory In Sight,’ Says Allen General Chairman Ivan E. Alien, of the Oglethorpe campaign com mittee, said this morning: “The Monday meeting of com mittee workers at the Piedmont was larger than any of those held last week, and I don’t think there was a man pie.**ent who failed to grasp the significance of the fact. ' It means that, there is to be no let-up In the Work, and that every man interested in it will do his part with redoubled vigor from day to day. until the whole $250,000 is raised. "Victory is already in sight, but we must all work harder at this stage in the campaign than ever before." A brisk rush of work in the Ogle thorpe campaign started early Tues day morning, with the encouraging recollection that the industry of only alf a day had boosted the total sub scriptions to $444,377 by the noonday luncheon meeting Monday, leaving than $lut>,000 to be raised. In spite of the fact that only half a day’s work was reported Monday, It was found that $5,441 had been ob tained, and the 50 workers present pledged themselves each to strive for at least a $200 return the next day. to set a rniirk of $10,000 for one day’s work, and to cut the “needed" fig ure below $100,000. Reinl'orceinents also were at work Tuesday morning in the person of Dr. 'L*. Vance, a well-known Presbyterian minister of Nashville, :night be placed on the board of trus tees. He was in Birmingham when lie read of the great campaign in At lanta, and promptly cajne over to of fer his services in raising the re mainder of the fund. The latest “land donation" to < Oglethorpe, consisting of property ad joining the site and available for its use or sale, was made jointly by VY T . M. McKenzie and his brother, George AI. McKenzie, together with L. C. Verner, H. F. Burdett and A. O. Bur- ett. It is valued at $1,750, each do nor sharing to the extent of $437.50, except the Burdett brothers, who give a share together. The luncheon meeting Monday was the largest the campaign has pro duced thus far. Fifty workers were present, and additional tables had to lie brought in. “Don't be afraid to come back,” Jvan E.
