The statement given out at the
office of the Railroad Commission
Wednesday to the effect that the Cen
tral of Georgia hereafter will sell
mileage books in Georgia good only
for a Journey wholly within the !
State, at the rate of 2 cents per mile
Is incorrect. The Central will sell j
such books, hut they will be sold at j
the rate of 2 1-2 cents per mile, which ;
is the maximum rate permitted. ;
This means practically that the j
Central has withdrawn its inter i
changeable mileage and also its in- ’
trust ate mileage, as there will now ;
be no saving in using mileage strips j
over that line in Georgia.
The Atlanta, Birmingham and At - j
lantic Railroad will sell penny scrip
at 2 cents per jnile, notwithstanding !
the fact that it is permitted to charge
a maximum rate of 3 cents over its |
lines. The Macon and Dublin Road
has Informed the commission that it
will sell strictly intrastate mileage,
