He presented a large number of i<

"Can you tell me a single man «>r
corporation to whom you paid this

The receipts show it," said Turner.

LAURENS TEACHERS ORGANIZED.
DCBFIN. Dec. 12. I^aurens County
school teachers have organized the Fau-
rens County Teachers Association,
electing County School Superintendent
Z. Whitehurst president and Miss Nan
nic Fletcher secretary.
The only important change in the
new traffic law that will he recom
mended to Council Monday will be of
Interest to the womer snoppers who
drive their own automobile* 1 . So
machine will he alio wen 10 be parked
In the shopping district for more than
30 minutes at a time, but the section
of the bill as drafted by the joint
committee of the Council and the
• 'lumber of Commerce prohibiting
the parking of machines on Peach
tree and Whitehall and several tribu
tary streets unless in charge of a
chauffeur has been stricken. This
provision was considered to be espe
cially discriminatory against women
w ho drive electrics.
Beaumont Davison, representing
tne Whitehall street department
stores, insisted that this change be
made, and that the parking limit time
be made 60 minutes. He said that no
woman could shop in 30 minutes.
The zone in which parking is to be
restricted was changed. On Peach
tree and Whitehall streets it is to be
from Forrest avenue to Mitchell
street. The eastern limit is Pryor
street and the western Forsyth street.
This provision reduces considerably
the limit prescribed in the original
ordinance.
No street car will be allowed to
stand within the zone for more than
two minutes at a time.

think of what the show means; think
of the spirit that prompts tin* stage
folk and the local folk who are
rifiring their own personal interests
to appear.
That’s the big thing, after all -that j
spirit of DOING SOMETHING f.»r
lhose who ran not do anything fir
themselves, and^that is the spirit tha:
is- going to make Yvette and Robert
Edc.son and Forrest Adair and all the
others put a vim and go into theiT
work that will make it bet'.er than
anything they’ve ever done.
And they've made a lot of sacrifices
to go to the Atlanta Theater either
after or before their acts at the other
playhouses ami do their afternoon’s
work all over again - just because
there are a lot of little kiddies in
Atlanta who want old Santa Claus to
visit them. If the Christmas Editor
had to pay these people their salaries
they'd ordinarily get for the after
noon's work, he’, throw up his hands
and quit it would take more than the
entire fund ever v ill amount to.
But they're doing it all for noth
