Florenze Tempest, bring a young
woman of tempera men t, startled the.
gallery at the Forsyth matinee Mon
day by shaking her black looks angri
ly and stalking off the stage when
some of the lofty spectators laughed
and whistled. Miss Tempest had
done nothing more than display, in
the course of a graceful dance, a
wealth of lingerie and white silken
hosiery. The gallery, a. is the gal-
lerv’s wont, whistled.
There are two sides to the little af
fair, but the best that can he said is
that Miss Tempest seems just young
enough not to know that a vaudeville
gallery is incorrigible, and will laugh
and will whistle and will jeer at the
very momenta when t<* behave so is
not the most delicate thing in the
^ world.
However, the gojurherie or gauch-
erlcs marred for the matinee an
dirncr the be*t thing of the weeks
vaudeville bill. Miss Tempest is a
petite young woman who dances well
did has some new songH and is alto
gether presentable and attractive
The act is elaborately staged, and

There was no hitch to spoil the en

The. Carl Kugene troupe, a small
army of acrobats, have one of the
best acts of its kind seen in Atlanta
this season, and their sensational
tumbling holds most of the audience,
as it should.
If grown-up folks can ever sin
cerely enjoy animal performers
which is doubtful they can like Ani

trained and seeming intelligent as
any animals here for some time,
hardly excepting even Miss Orford's
elephants.

who predominated in the audience,
adored her afresh.

Eight railroads operating In Georgia
have been ordered by the State Rail
road < ’ornmission to show cause by I
January J“, 1914. why the Governor!
should not be asked to bring suit
against them for .1 violation of Order
No. M, constituted by the withdrawal!
of their interchangeable mileage
book s.
This order was announced after an
executive session lasting practically
all of Monday. Under tire law. the
maximum penalf\ is a fine of $.*,000
against the railroads for each viola
tion <*; a ruling of the commission.
The violation in this Instance was
put forth as being a change in tariff
without first submitting the change
to the commission for its approval.
The railroads named in the order |
had given notice that after December
17 they would discontinue inter
changeable mileage books. This fol
lowed the judgment of the Supreme
< ourt upholding the order of the com
mission requiring roads to pull mile
age on trains.
The commission was divided three
to two on the original order, and It is
understood that there also was a di
vision as to the question of whether
th#* order had been violated.
The roads coming under the cen
sure of the commission are the
Southern, the Central of Georgia, the
Seaboard, the A,. R. and A., the Geor
gia, the Macon, Dublin and Savan
nah. the Georgia and Florida, arid the
Wrightsville and Tennllle.
