Floronzo Tempest, bring n young

ly and stlliking off the stage when
some of th« lofty spectators laughed
and whistled. Mis.** Tempest had
done nothing more than display, In
the course of a graceful dance, ,i

Hosiery. The gallery, aa in the gal

There are two sides to the little af
fair. hut the best that can be said is
that Miss Tempest seems just young
enough not to know that a vaudeville
gallery Is Incorrigible, and will laugh
tnd will whistle and will jeer at the
very momenta when to behave hi* is
not the most delicate thing in the
w r orld.
However, the gaueherle or gauch-
eries—marred for lhe matinee au
dience the best thing of the week’s
vaudeville bill. Miss Tempest is a
petite young woman who dances well
and has some new songs and is alto
gether presentable and attractive.
The act is elaborately staged, and
Miss Tempest's two young men part
ners are capable.
There was no hitch to spoil the en
joyment of those assembled over the
pure burlesque of Kdwin Stevens and

The «'orl Eugene troupe, a small
army of acrobats, have one of the
best nets of its kind seen in Atlanta
this season, and their sensational
tumbling holds most of the audience,
as it should.
If grown-up folks can ever sin
cerely enjoy ar.im.tl performers
which is doubtful they can like Ani
ta Diaz's monkeys, who are as well
trained and seeming intelligent as
tny animals here for some time,
hardly excepting even Miss Or ford's

1 Lyric
Miss Hunting depends for her ap
peal on a display of childish naivete
Seen once, her appeal is an open
book. .She is oh, mo cute, as you are
informed by women to the righ! of
you, and to the left of you. and
everywhere around you Her cute
ness finds full play in the drama of
this week. As Flotsam, the Girl from
out Yonder, she wears the yellow
rubber coat and trousers of a fisher
man part of tlie time, and there Is
plenty of opportunity for the bar
carole laugh of hers, and for tho
quavery tear signal. And the women,
who predominated in the audience,
adored her afresh.
"The Girl From (»ut Yonder” Is a
stage piece with a rather honorable
career Adelaide Thurston is one
who played it several years ago. Miss
Hunting has a relatively capable sup
port. Leslie P. Webb, as the fisher
man lover, and George Whitaker, as
the urban lover, and Ham C. Miller,
as her sea-dog father are the men
who have the greatest opportunity.
"The Girl From tint Yonder" will
be at the Lvrie all week, with mati
nees Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
“The Denver Express”
Thrills Big Crowd.
"The Denver Express, a spectacu
lar melodrama, was presented by the
Jewell Kelley Company at the Bijou
last night to an audience which tilled
every seat in the theater The play
was received with enthusiasm.
This week's offering is one of the
famous Holden Brothers productions.
It is full of thrills. Every member
of the company has a good part and
all the old favorites scored hits. Ver
non Wallace, the leading man.
Edwin Vail appeared to splendid ;in
vantage in parts for which they are
eminently fitted
Earl 11 iglev, as 'Tommy Tucker,
was responsible for much of the fun
of the evening. Oscar* Hoes, T. C
McDonough. Roy Butler. Miss Lilian
Do ras' Miss Clare Hummers and
Mias Alice Hall were well received.
Miss Rose Morris won many new
friends by her capable acting and
Ha by Roes was a favorite from her
first appearance.
