B. C. Southport, Fla. A SHAVING MIRROR. Miss Mary Lea Davis: Since It has been a long dis puted question as to which is the mightiest, the pen or the sword, I would suggest that a fountain pen would be a very useful gift to a husband, with this admonition attached: When to write, to whom and where, and last of all to be very careful about what he signs. Other use ful gifts are a shaving mirror and a few shoe strings. MBS. M. M. Atlanta, Ga. It would be a gift that would be valuable and sentimental at the U me time MBS B. E. C Suvannan, Ga. SOMETHING HE NEEDS. Miss Mary I>*a Davis: Jf we give our husbands se rious loving thought day after day we learn his taste and his necessities (and d practical man generally appreciates something he needs and can use), and he can not but see how we have let his interest be our interest throughout the year Instead of waiting until Christmas and hav ing our brain thoroughly racked on account of our thought of him, aid then maybe buy whaf some other woman bought her hus band. I enjoy making the money which I intend spending for this gift, then present it with all love, . feeling that, if possible, it will be appreciated ail the more. MBS. B. L, C. Reynolds, Ga. A CAMERA FOR HIM. Miss Mary Lea Davis: I think a nice present would be a kodak, which I know my hus band would appreciate, for there Is nothing he likes better than taking a stroll taking pictures on a pretty day, and I hope Christ mas will be a pretty day for him and I to to make some pic tures of ourselves and baby boy. MRS. D. H. M. Tallahassee, Fla. A USEFUL ARTICLE. Miss Mary Lea Davis: The best Christmas gift from a wife to hubby is some simple, in expensive yet useful article one that costs the wife loving labor. Anything made with her own hands is more appreciated than anything else. A little cover for sheets of tissue paper fo be hung near the dresser for him to use when shaving is what I plan. Take two pieces of silk or satin, one a dark and one a light shade, each of them to be about sixteen inches long and six inches wide. Turn edges under and neatly briar stitch all around— the out side will be the darker. But be fore they are put together work his initials near one end of the dark piece and about five or six inches from the other end of same piece work a small bunch of daisies and under it these words: ‘‘Save the dimes.” After they are briar stitched together, work some eyelets near the cen ter to run ribbon through to hold the paper. (Jet about 75 sheets of nice tissue paper (half white and half blue) seven and a half Inches long and six inches wide, and fasten them in cover with pretty little ribbon, tying a fluf fy bow, leave a loop five or six inches to hang by. When these sheets are used you can replace them, and they are so handy. ’ MBS. M. H. Anniston, Ala. FOR TIRED FEET. Miss Mary Lea Davis: As my husband works hard and is on his feet a great deal dur ing the day, 1 think the most sen sible present l could give him would be a pair of crocheted bed room slippers to rest his tired and aching feet at nights. And also a real nice Christmas dinner and a kind and loving wife. MRS. P. L. S. Hazlehurst, Ga. A SET OF FURS. Miss Mary Lea Davis: My Idea of a gift to a wife is to give her something that is ser viceable, at the same time some thing that she wants-—a real nice set of furs—-and an abundant supply of table linen I think would be very appreciated. JOE S. Atlanta, Ga. PLANNED FOR HIM. Miss Mary Lea Davis: My husband's birthday comes on Christmas day, and because of the activities and merrymaking of the Yuletide season the occa sion scarcely ever is one of im portance. Sometimes it Is over looked aJltogether. This year my Christmas dinner shall he in the form of a birthday dinner for him. with all the things he likes best to eat. I shall invite those GIFT SPECTACLES For father and mother. Solid gold, In a beautiful irift case. A K. A nice bo' or handkerchiefs, cuff links, glow's, ties or shirts, or something they can use every day. WATCH AND FOB Miss Mary Lea Davis: Presents should always he given In proportion to means As a gift for husband would suggest a watch and fob or chain Such a gift is useful, and nothing will so often remind Jiim of the don or. Would always accompany gift for 1 my husband with appro priate bit of verse carrying note of affection. MRS. M. S. Thomson, Ga. SILVERWARE. Miss Mary l.ea Davis I would suggest a set of table silverware. I think that would be a very useful and appropriate present for a man to give his wife. T. C. B. College Park, Ga. LABOR-SAVING DEVICE. Miss Mary Lea Davis: The most useful gift for a wife would be a "labor-saving device,' which would reduce her work at home. YV. V.. Atlanta, Ga. HER WAY. Miss Mary Lea Davis: The best gift from husband to Government Ownership of Phone Lines is admittedly NOT the best method of hand ling the situation in the United States. Competition admit tedly IS the best method. The appeal for gov ernment owner ship comes from communi ties which have suffer ed from the elimination of competition. Atlanta, more fortu nate than other cities, is enjoying healthy competition with the low rates and good service it brings. ATLANTA TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH COMPANY wife is to give her her way.
