DANCE-AID XMAS FUND
Thoae of you who appreciate an amateur show well done,
and those of you whose greatest joy is on the dance floor, are
offered an opportunity to gratify those desires and at the same
time do your part to increase the Empty Stocking Fund, which
is going to bring Santa Claus to hundreds of poor Atlanta j

At the Grand Theater Friday nitriit the students of the
Georgia School of Technology will present their annual play.
It's Pinero’s ‘‘The Magistrate’’ this year, and those who have
seen the rehearsals say it will be the best show Tech students
have ever stage—and Tech students have a habit of staging
something good, always. One-fourth of the proceeds will be
devoted to the Empty Stocking Fund and the scats will go on
sale at the Grand Theater Friday morning.
And on the same evening Friday, December 1!)—there
will be a dance at Segadlo’s Hall, on Pine street, for the benefit
f the fund, to which all the folks who know Segadlo’s are in
vited to come and trip the light fantastic.
Many parties that will occupy boxes at the show are plan
ning to go direct to the dance hall. Miss Mosely will be in
charge of the dance. il

Here's something about Empty
Stockings, and it wasn’t written by
the Christmas Editor, either. The ('.
E. wishes he knew who did write it.
because he owes the writer a debt of
thanks and so does the fcntire work
ing staff of t He big Anti-Empty
Stocking Army in Atlanta.
This is the good word:
"The memory of the keen disap
pointment of my little sister and my
self when we found our stockings
empty for the first time, in 1864 a
long time ago 1h keen enough after
all these years to give your appeal oil
behalf of the poor children of Atlanta
a special significance to me.
"Our father was in the Army of
Northern Virginia that Christmas. We
were on a plantation in Southern
Georgia, and all communication had
been cut off
it Was a Tragedy.
"Mother told us it would he useless
for us to hang up our stockings that
Christmas Eve 'Santa Claus can’t
come this year,’ she said; and 1 can
remember the queer tug at my hear*
when she said it.
"But our childish faith In the mirac
ulous power of the old saint was such
that we insisted on hanging up our
stockings as usual.
"I have never forgotten how we 1
felt when we strained our eyes to see
the contents of those stockings in the
dim dawn of that long-ago Christmas
Day and found nothing! You call it
a tragedy, and you are right.
"1 hope the inclosed contribution
will help to keep some little one from
a similar experience and 1 wish that
I could tell everyone of that expe
rience of my sister and myself, for it
might help to recall similar memories
of those sad times "L. T. P."
Christmas Ever the Same.
No use commenting on that letter,
is there? Its appeal is dined and to
the heart, and with it comes the ca
ressing hint of lavender and old lace,
and a dim and haunting fragrance of
the past.
Christmas was then what Christ
mas is now. And always the children
are the same. Times change, and cus
toms other customs But Christmas
and childhood are with us always. A
very good book says the poor are. too
Maybe this Is a good chance to take
care of the whole outfit at once.
Anyway, the Christmas Editor Is
getting a lot of help from people like
the writer of that letter, and then
there are a whole lot of various en
tertainments to keep things moving.
Don’t forget these dates. They’re
