EDARTOWN, May 29.—A number of
affairs have been given during the
week for Miss Ada Lee Timber-
lake, of Wake Forest, N. C., the guest
of Mrs. E. C. Benton. The f%rty-two
aturday afternoon was a pretty com
pliment to Miss Timberlake. Miss Bur
bank was assisted by Miss Myrta Dodds
and Miss Lena Burbank. Miss Myrta
Dodds was the hostess at forty-two on
Monday morning with Miss Timberlake
as guest of honor, and on Monday aft
ernoon Miss Rosa Vance and Mrs. Mor
gan Russell gave a theater party for
Mrs. Benton and her guest.

The marriage of Miss Norma Hansen
to Harry Norton will take place at the
home of.the bride’s mother, June 22.
Miss Hanna Berner, of Brooklyn, was
married to Isaac Raskin at the New
Chatham Artillery Mall Wednesday
night. Miss Sadie Raskin was maid of
honor and Alex Raskin was best man.
The bridesmaids were Miss Ida Raskin
and Miss Rosa Raskin, of New York,
and Miss Rosa Brooks. The groomsmen
were William Raskin. Abraham Miller
and Joseph Oppenheim. The couple will
reside in Savannah, after a honeymoon
in New York.

TGUSTA, May 29.—The social event
of interest in Augusta society this
week was the marriage of Miss
Reuben Walton and David Sloan Lewis,
which took place at noon Wednesday at
the First Baptist Church. The ceremony
was performed by Dr. Ashby Jones in
the presence of a large . number of
friends. The maid of honor was Miss
Virginia Walton. Two little flower girls
were little Happy and Mildren Walton
The best man was Bertram Dales, and
the ushers were Robert Walton, Jr.. E.
A. Hayden, C. B. Bailey and Chester
Story. The couple left for the North
Carolina mountains. Later they will go
to Mullins, Ga., where they will reside
for a time.
Miss Alberta Gehrken entertained the
Thursday Coterie at five hundred.
The Lakeside Boat Club gave a dance
Friday night. About forty couples at-

exercises of the Cartersville High
School at the Opera House Tuesday
evening. The class numbers twenty—
ten girls and ten boys. Charles Collins
won first honor. Waring Battle took
second honor and Miss Cornelia Milam
third. Charles D. McKinnu, of Decatur,
delivered the literary address. C. M.
Milam, president of the Board of Educa
tion. presented the diplomas and cer
tificates.

AVANNAH, May 29.—The delegates
to the convention of the Grand
Chapter of the Order of the East
ern Star were entertained all the week
and left the city speaking its praises.
A large number of Savannah’s repre
sentatives in the different Southern col
leges returned home this week for the
summer vacation, among them being
Miss Ruth Nisbet and Miss Julia Wal
ker, who have been attending Agnes
Scott College.

ILLEDGEVILLE. May 29.—Since
the summer months began Cox
Pond has been the scene of many
picnic parties. On Thursday afternoon
Mr. and Mrs. John Sidney Lawrence
chaperoned a number of the younger
set. Another outing was enjoyed at Cox
Pond Saturday afternoon by a number
of the faculty of the Georgia Normal
and Industrial College and a few friends.

son. J. 0. Liffsey, who was graduated
Wednesday from Gordon Institute, has
passed the examinations for West Point
Military Academy and will enter that
school in July.
