FARS ago the United States made a topographical survey
Y of Atlanta and vieinity and established the fact that in a
radins of one mile from the center of Buckhead lies the
highest land in the suburbs of the city. Since that time the real
estate fraternity of Atlanta have demonstrated the fact that out
this way also lies the highest classed and most desirable land for
the home-builder.
In the section lying north from Peachtree Creek to Ogle
thorpe University and beyond and east out Piedmont avenue and
wes. Howell Mill Road, and the roads between, such as Pace’s
Ferry, both east and vlnest; Roswell Road, Habersham Drive,
Wesley avenue, Mason avenue and many others is the building
ground par excellence of the future.
' In looking over -this territory with an eye to the future it
strikes the observer that the city should immediately acquire
title to Peachtree Creek Valley from Armour Station on the
Southern and Ssaboard Railways southwest to the disposal plant
and convert all this waste land into a city park. :
The rich soil of the Peachtree Creek bottoms would grow
flowers, shrubbery and grass to perfecfion, and with Peachtree
Creek finally disposed of by an open conerete viaduct or other
wise, this land would become one of the most beautiful parks of
the city, and an asset of growing value for all time to come.
The Board of County’ Commissioners has promised to give
Peachtree Road a brand»new'pavement next year, which will
probably be concrete from Brookwood to Buckhead. The bal
\ ance of Peachtree has a comparatively new pavement from the
l city to the DeKalb County line and this will fit Peachtree for
what she is and probably always will be, the most traveled road
in the county.
The public is familiar with the land of the E. Rivers Realty
.Company, with their winding drives, beautiful shade and all cit);
l improvements. This territory by way of Andress avenue leads
to the Pace’s Ferry Road, and ig building up at a rapid rate with
‘the best class of homes.

HEARST'S SUNDAY AMERICAN, ATLANTA,
Farther out, just east of Buckhead and between Peachtree
Road and Piedmont avenue, the Holmes & Luckie Realty Com
pany have opened a tract of land that is unique in that every
street is a publié highway. City water, sidewalks and other im
provements are now being added to this property and its fine lo
catiorf assures its future.
Scattered all over the intervening territory are owners of
large lots who intend to sell a part of their sites to congenial
friends; and as city conveniences become more and more nu
merous these sites will be rapidly built up and the lots go off the
market permanently. \
At Buckhead, where Peachtree, Roswell and Pace’s Ferry
Roads come together, forming a five points similar to the famous
Five Points in the center of the eity, there is a growing business
community that will take care of the needs of the people. The
Jacobs building and other improvements have enhanced the
value of property 25 per cent.
Here are groceries, coal, ice, drugs, a garage and anything
else that such a community needs. Atlanta merchants are rapid
ly extending their delivery by motor truck to take care of the in
creasing demands of their customers, and the Georgia Railway
and Power Company maintains a splendid ecar service out
Peachtree Road to the DeKalb County line, which will soon be
extended to handle the Oglethorpe University travel.
The business man in Atlanta can now leave his office in the
city and in less than an hour be in the Brookhaven lake for a
swim, or playing a round of golf on the club’s fine links.
At a cost of twentyfive thousand dollars, the property
owners have laid a six-inch water main out Piedmont avenue.
which will serve that road from the city limits to Roswell Road
and down Roswell Road to Buckhead.
The section between Peachtree Road and Roswell Road on
Piedmont avenue and on Roswell Road back to Buckhead is now
being laid, the rest having been finished some time ago.
