ADISON, Nov. 20—Miss Lula
M Spears and H. Grady Smith were
married Thursday afterncon at §
o’clock, in the First Baptist Church,
in this city. Before and during the
ceremony the Madison Orchestra fur
nished a musical program. The first to
enter were the gate-openers, Misses
Emily Spears and Lilius Baldwin,
dressed in gowns of white lace and car
rying baskets of white and yellow chrys
anthemums, who opened wide the floral
gates leading to the altar. Next en
tered the bridesmaids, Misses Eva Phil
lips, of Montlicello; Elizabeth Smith, of
Newborn; Annie Lols Stowe, of Coving
ton, and Ruby Hight, of Greenesboro, all
wearing gowns of white and yellow crepe
de chine and carrying bouquets of chrys
anthemums. Foliowing the bridesmaids
entered the mald of honor, Miss Anice
gl’ms. of Madison, the bride's sister.
ißs Spears was gowned In yellow mes
saline, trimmed with garnitures of chif
fon and gold passamentaries, and car
ried a large bouquet of yeliow chrysan- ‘
themums. Just frecedlnx the bride |
came little Miss Jeannette Bird, who
was dressed as an immense yellow but
terfly, and who carried a white satin
flllow to the prielieu, where she placed
t and took her place amid the flowers.
The bride entered with her cousin, Dr.
Wilson, of Newborn, and was met at
the altar by the brideggroom and his
best melg, Willlam H. Porter, of New
born. e bride wore ivory crepe me
dla trimmed with raré lace and seed
Kearll, with a long square train and
er veil was adjusted with a chaplet of
orange blossoms, and her bouquet of
Easter lilies and lilies of the valley. The
Rev. C. W. Minor performed the cere
mony, immediately after which Mr, and
Mrs. Smith left on their honeymoon.

Georgia Avenue School will held its
next meeting at the school next Tues

several elegant entertainments when the
State Federation of Women's Clubs met
