To Build Link in
Asheville Highway
Of no little interest to good road
enthusiasts of Western Caroiina will
be the news that the Cocke County
Court has just appropriated money to
build a bridge across the French
Broad River, near Wolf Creek, on the
route of the Southern Nationa! High
way from Newport to Asheville
This i# in addition to the fund here
tofore appropriated to bulld the road,
and nsures the optnlr\srg of the road
::a: Newport to the North Carolina
The people of this section of the
State are very much interested in the
completion of this link of the Ashe
ville- Knoxville highway, and the local
Board of Trade has recently urged
the f.octo County authorities to hast
en the completion of the road, as it is
believed its construction will bring
thousands of tourists not only to the
cities of this section, but also to the
chief cities of Tenunessee,

POLO AT AIKEN, §. C.
The Increasing popularity of Alken,
8. C. as an ideal resort for winter
m may be gauged by the statement
durllx"tlu last month the
Southern Railway has transpbrted
thither more than three hundred polo
ponies from New York city-—and still
there are more to go.
Alken in many respects differs
from other resorts. The large num
ber of wealthy persons who own cot
tages there make it an important
place from a social standpoint. And,
-tn?::y.. being important soclally it
zth becomes important from
muriat of the sportsmaen.
Hence it is that the best winter
polo in the United Stutes is probably
10 be scen at Aiken. A# polo in this
country is essentially a game of non
professionals, it may readlly be seen
that Aiken is the congregating point
for many of the most daring sports
men in America.

OV SARASOTAKEY
.
In the beautiful Sarasota Bay, where you can bathe in the waters of the Gulf of
Mexico, hunt, fish, motor and enjoy life the whole year round. .
Siesta on the Gulf is the most desirable location in Florida for either a winter or summer home.
It is located two and one-half miles across the beautiful Sarasota Bay from the growing and prosper
ous city of Sarasota. It takes only 20 minutes to run Yrom Sarasota to Siesta on a ferry. This Is a
beautiful water trip to make, for you see the surrounding keys; the cresent shape of the mainland
and the beautiful boulevand and bayshore homes: the m gnificent palace home of Mr. T. M. Wor
chester; and enjoy the soft, gentie lull of the waves of the beautiful bay.
Siesta Is a highclass town site, and is being largely developed along lines that appeal to the “well.
to-do” who wish to leave the snows of the Northern winter and get down here for five or six months
of continuous good weather for fishing, Bathing, golfing and other outdoor sports. The business man
can also leave his cares for a few months and enjoy the same privileges. It is a subdivision platted
and planned for the home-seeker—the one who wishes to spend the whole year here.
In the winter one enjoys the mild climate which is not known in the North until April, and often.
times June. There are very few days during the entire winter months that you can not run around In
your motor boat in your shirt sleeves and be comfortable. In the summer we have a cool, refrething
breeze from the Gulf every day, and at night a light covering Is needed before the day dawns.
Your coal bill alone will pay for a season of comfort and ease on this, the most
beautiful bay in the world.
