Inland Waterway.
\ flotilla of yachts from the Chi.
eago Yacht Club will touch at Tampa,
Fla. within the next few days, and
this city will probably be made the
headquarters for the fleet of little
erafl. according to H. R. Rogers, a
member of the Chicago Yacht Club,
who is there now In his twin-screw
turbine yacht, the Water Gypay,
which he is overhauling after his
3l mile voyage.
Mr. Rogers is the owner of a hotel
in Indianapolis, and is interested inv
other hotels throughout the United
States and Canada He is on a win
ter trip and s accompanied by his
wife. His craft is one of the finest
that has docked here this season, and

A new coating of paint will be
given the Water Gypsy before she
continues her journey to Miami, and
along the inland waterway the At

“There are about six or eight more
vachts from the Chicago Club coming
to Tampa,” said Mr. Rogers “and 1
think 1 will remain herd about a
month to wait for them This is their
rendezvous We have all agreed to
assemble here and it is not at all im
probable that this will be made the |
headquarters for about two months |
by some of the yua hismen.”
Mr. Rogers said that the Allce, one
of the largest vachts » steaming
down the Mississippl to this city had
been disabled and had to go on tive
way In New Orleans, but that she
would soon be off and ready to con

The Water Gypsy-is the first of the
flotilla to arrive and she has proven
her superiority over the others in this

POLO AT AIKEN, 8. C. !
The increasing popularity of Alken, |
. C., as an ldeal resort for winter |
lo may be gauged by the statement '
hat during the last month the)
outhern Railway has lravm[mrh-dl
hither more than three hundred polo
nies from New York city-—and still
ere are more to go.
Alken in many respects differs
m other resorts. The large num
“ber of wealthy persons who own cot
tages there make it an important
place from a social standpoint. And,
saturally, being important socially it
forthwith becomes important from
the standpoint of the gportsmen.
Hence it is that the best winter
_polo in the United States is probably
be seen at Aiken. As polo in this

In the beautiful Sarasota Bay, where you can bathe in the waters of the Gulf of
Mexico, hunt, fish, motor and enjoy life the whole year round.
Siesta on the Gulf is the most desirable location in Florida for either a winter or summer home.
It is located two and one-half miles across the beautiful Sarasota Bay from the growing and prosper
ous city of Sarasota. It takes only 20 minutes to run from Sarasota to Slesta on a ferry. This is a
beautiful water trip to make, for you see the surrounding keys; the cresent shape of the mainiand
and the beautiful boulevand and bayshore homes; the magnificent palace home of Mr. T. M. Wor
chester; and enjoy the soft, gentle lull of the waves of the beautiful bay.
Siesta is a high-class town site, and is being largely developed along lines that appeal to the “well.
to-do” who wish to leave the snows of the Northern winter and get down here for five or six months
of continuous good weather for fishing, bathing, goifing and other outdoor sports. The business man
can also leave his cares for a few months and enjoy the same privilegss. It s a subdivision platted
and planned for the home-seeker—the one who wishes to spend the whoie year here.
In the winter one enjoys the mild climate which is not known in the North until April, and often
times June. There are very few days during the entire winter months that you can not run around in
your motor boat In your shirt sleeves and be comfortable. In the summer we have a cool, refreshing
breeze from the Gulf every day, and at night a light covering is needed before the day dawns.
Your coal bill alone will pay for a season of comfort and ease on this, the most
beautiful bay in the world.
