ters on or before Saturday night at
10 o'clock. This is the last and only
free vote coupon which will be pub
lished, and these are the last and
only free votes which The Georgia will
give to boys and girle entered in the
Shetland Pony Contest,
Clip out the coupon. Write your
name and address on the dotted lines,

Manager at once. Better still, turn in
the coupon with your subscriptions.

Washerwomen Thief
In the arrest of three Negro women
and two negro men, the detective de
partment Friday belieyed that an or
ganization of “washerwomen” burglars
had been rounded up and that looters
of at least ten houses had been caught,
According to detectives, the gang had
worked successfully through a scheme
whereby the women posed as washer.

sewing the last stitches (or persuad
ing their wives to sew them) on their
costumes for “The Old Deestrick
Skule,” to open its two-night engage-~
gagement at the Auditorium Friday
evening. Some of the largest mem
bers of the company were preparing
to squeeze themselves into boys' size
jackets and abbreviated trousers,
while the girls were making white
aprons and sunbonnets. .
The last rehearsal was held Thurs
day night, with the full company on
hanfl and Forrest Adair as ihe
Schoolmaster. The cast Inclules
Mrs. Charles A. Sheldon, Jr., as Mrs.
Honeysuckle; J. Lee Barnes as Bud-
Ady; Miss Adele Smith as Sissy; Miss
Sarah Bearden and Mrs. D. C. Shep
herd as the Twing; Mrs. Eloise Da
vidson as the Crying Girl; Miss Jen
nilu Lindsey as the Giggler: Miss
Mary Smith as the Lisper, and John
Gricé as the Thirsty Boy. Steve
Johnston will read his celebrated
eomposition on “Cats.” The Frog
Hollow Silver Cornet Band will ex
ecute several absolutely impossible
selections between the acts.
The “Deestrick Skule” is to be given
for the benefit of the Shriners’ band,
which will attend the national con
vention at Buffalo this summer, and
it has the official sanction of Yaarab
Temple. Tickets, at 25 and 50 cents,

the Newark police that a man who
committed suicide here was Jean
Crones, the Chicago prisoner, was lis

Audience Quenches
Fire at Auditorium
The audience listening to Congress
man Howard's speech at the Auditorium
Thursday night was unaware of a smali
fire in the building and sat comfortamy
through the program, while John
Knight, county jailer, and Jim McGrifr,
engineer at the Atlantic Compress Com
pany, extinguished the blaze.
The men found the fire behind a ra
diator near the main entrance. It was
eating its way from the floor when dis
covered, but they used a wall extin
guisher and stopped the flames before
any great damage was done.
