A scena of great brilllancy was the
Pigglmont Driving Club Tuesday eve
ning when the opera dinner-dance was
given there.
Throughout spring flowers added
their charm to the place, There were
jardinieres of pink honeysuckle and
bowls of snapdragons in the living
room and reception room, while the
loggia, was a summer. ga.rde'a. filled
with ferns, rubber plants, growing
azaleas and hanging baskets,
In the ballroom the tables for din
ner were set. KEach had as its cen
terpiece a vase of pink rosebuds, and
the menu cards were hand painted in
pink roses. Small pink baskets held
the French bonbons, and the candles
were shaded in pink. About the wall
‘was festooned smilax and bamboo and
the wall baskets held ferns. The big
fireplace was banked with palms and
ferns. The dining room was decorated
with ferns, smilax and pink roses also,
and here many parties were seated for
* dinner.
Beautiful Toilettes Seen.
_ The decorations formed a pleasing
background for the elegant toilettes
worn by the women.
Mrs. Floyd Mcßae's gown was of
green tulle over silver tissue. The em
broidery of the corsage was of silver
threads and h&'tu]le sleeves were fin
ished with siler heads.
Mrs. Willlam 8. Elkin wore a hand.
somx toilette of white tulle over white
satin. A drapery of black tulle em
broidered in silver fell over the white
tunics, and the bodice was of the black
embroidered tulle over white chiffon.
*. Mrs. E. P. Mcßurney was gowned
in white tul\:’. The full hooped skirt
was edged with a tracery of small
rhinestones, and the rhinestones ap
peared in embroidery design upon the
corsage,
Mrs. William Randolph Hearst, of
New York, wore bronze tulle over taf
féta. The bodice was of tulle‘rcom
bined with the taffeta.
Mrs. H. M. Atkinson wore ‘white
tulle embroidered in silver,
Gown of Pastel Green,
Mrs. John E. Murphy was gowned
in pastel green silk brocaded in sil
ver combined with silver lace.
Mrs., Willilam Lawson Peel wore
black chiffon embroidered in crystals
and trimmed in point de llerre lace.
Mrs. William R. Huntley, of Buffalo,
who was in the party with Dr. and
Mirs. Willis Westmoreland, wore a
gown of white tulle combined with
green tulle in the moss shade. The
embroidery was in opalescent beads.
Mrs. Charles Dannals wore a gown
of American Beauty tulle over flesh
colored satin. The full tunics were
edged with satin in the deep shade of
the tulle draperies, and the corsage.
was of satin and tulle,
Mrs. W. G. Bryan wore silver lace
combined with silver tissue. The
flounces of lace fell over the petticoat
of tissue and the bodice was of silver
lace over silver-gray vhiffon. She!
wore a corsage of orchids.
Mrs, Bryan's mother., Mrs. John
Alynn Campbell, of Chicago, was
gowned in black tulle, The bodice
was embroldered in jet and her flow
ers were orchids, |

a pearl gray chiffon, with silver lace,

blow satin with tunic of pink tulle,
trimmed with French rosebuds.

handsome gown of gold-colored satin
embroidered with gold,

Golf Club on Wednesday assembled
‘about 700 people and was informal in
}natm‘e. The tables on the golf links
were rustic and had no decorations.
A band furyished music during the
luncheon hour and in the afternoon
when there was dancing in the ball
‘roomh and upon the terrace.
~ The terrace had as its decorations
‘bay trees and stately palms. In the
ballrbom were ferns and palms with
spring {lowers banked in the fireplace,

The women wore thelr tallored suits
