Busiest Opera Day
By POLLY PEACHTREE.
ELL, Wednesday was the
W fullest day of opera week.
= (No couble meaning at
tached to the use of the adjective
describing the day, I assure you,)
- With the barbecue at Druid Hills,
“ the tea-dance at the Driving Club
and the evening performance and

the opera in the e~ening. I looked

which the news reporters have

box did T see his smiling counte

becue, but after he arrived he had
just as much fun. The only thing
he missed was the efforts of Mr.,
Pasquale Amato to get up & quar

Wwas blowing a gale' in absolute
disregard of famous singers' voe

" his companion gathered the littls
dark red sweet-smelling buds and,
rolling them into a ball, asked

‘ one end, the famous tenor CATry=-
, Ing them around in close prox

ern schoolgirls do, every spring—
for the remainder of the day.
It was not the fault of Amato
that we heard no singing from
the stare vesterday. He was
. <alled upon so insistent!y that
finally he said: “All right, T will
sing in a quartet.” Martinelli
consented to be one-fourth of the
Quartet, but no soprano was
forthcoming. Pretty Edith Mason
was there, adorable to behold in a
rose sweater and rose sport hat
and white skirt. But she was
saving her voice for “La Sonnam

A Good Diamond Bought
Now Is An Especiallv
Fine Investment °
Since November 15, 1915, the syndicate has advanced prices
to the cutters 32 1-2 per cent. This applies to the “rough” or
uncut stones. It is equivalent to a 40 per cent increase on the
finished cut stones.
Naturally it is only a question of time before these advances
will have to be followed by the retailer.
.
Invest Now at the Old Prices
A good diamond bought on the right basis, makes a splendid
investment. <
Diamonds can be converted into cash anywhere in the world,
and easier perhaps than real estate, automobiles or other prop
erty, .
At a forcéd sale a good diamond will bring more nearly what
it costs than any other property.
