The Druid Hills dinner-dance was
a most elaborate affair as to decora
tions. Thousands of roses, real and
not, were used, together with the
usual smilax, palms and bay trees,
doubled and trebled In number and
quantity over most soclal affairs,
“A bower of flowers?” Sure; I al
most forgot to say that, and the de
scription would not have been com
plete without it.
Nearly all the stars of the Metro
politan were present, including Mad
ame Barrientos, who looks more
charming &ff the stage than on, only
she wouldn't sing.
I noted what amounted almost to
an ovation given Madame Gadski,
at the matinee yesterday afternoon
when hundreds of the Atlanta people
whom she had met on previous visits
here stopped in” front of her box to
extend the glad hand, Madame Gadski
semed much pleased over her cor
dial welcome, and at the Druid Hills
dinner-dance she cordially agreed to
sing as soon as asked. Everyone ig
anticipating with the greatest pleas
ure the only appearance of Madame
Gadsgki in this year's opera at the
Saturday matinee.
