DR. GROOVER’S
Story No. 3
I realize now that a whole lot of
people are interested and reading
these stories. Much comment has
been stirred up. Now I have a
question | want to ask: Why is it
that people buy and take so much
patent medicine? That's # stunner
when you get ithe figures. ' Milllons
of dollars’ “worth” each Yyear.
Enough “KI-U-NA" to float the
fleet. Enouxh “Mrs. Pickles Com
pound” to flush all the sewers in
Amaerica. Some years ago the doc
tors took the druggist asiie and
'M;wod in his ear, “If you don't
Stop selling all this stuff, we will
boyeott you." The drumd smiled—
he keeps on smiling and selling.
What is a poor druggist to do when
Mrs. Pennypacker comes in “ and
wants “something good for the
backache?’ 80, the doctors and
druggist are still in the ring. Mean
time, a few good men like KEditor
Bok and others have done some
muck-raking, and a lot of W. C, T.
1. ladies and ministers discovered
that they have the “Ki-u-na habit.”
Then followed the pure food law,
which makes 'em tell just how much
alcohol there I 8 imr it—it is such a
comfort to know. Still I have not
answered the %ueltlon. The answer
is, people are tired of pc_vlng doctor
blils and have grown doubtful of
our skill and sincetrity.
Now 1 use some few drugs, the
physiological action of which I 8 defi
nitely known; then only for a short
time to ald NATURE in making the
cure. It shortens the time, and is
the only sclentific ws?' to use drugs.
Then add to this—electrical treat
ment, hyfl.ulc management and
mechanical correction with surgery
and otherwise, and you have my
way to treat the sick. Mix in a lit
tle hope and good cheer and be kind
~—the trick is done.
The fee is 60c to sl, pald cash,
