engaged in fruitless effort to retake
their lost positions, the French troops
on the Somme front have extended
their front southeast of Combles and

forward by the capture of Bouchaves

MILAN, Bept. 15.—Greece has de

Rather Pay Alimony
.
Than Wash Children
NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 15.--Rather
than wash the faces of his two children
four or filve times every day, Frank
Marsalla, in the Juvenile Court, agreed
to pay $2.50 a week alimony, and to let
his wife have the washing privilege.
Two weeks ago Judge Wilson gave
Marsalla the custody of little Loretta,
aged b years, and Frank, 8, when Mar
salla promised that his mother would
be glad to care for them. Mrs. Frank
Marsalla, Br., however, soon found the
face scrubbing task too arduous, it is
sald, and turned the job over to her
son, the father, who now renegs.
