Lakewood Line Gets
Double Track to Fair
The Georgia Railway and Power
Company, in order to facilitate the
heavy traffic to and from the South
eastern Fairgrounds at Lakewood, is
double trackirg its Lakewood line
from the Jonesboro road in Lakewood
Heights, to the grounds, a distance
of a mile and a half. A force of 200
men has been placed on the job, that
it may be completed in time for the
opening of the big fair.
This Improvement will enable the
street rallway company to operate a
fast schedule on its Lakewood line,

Vouchers to pay off the city's
policemen and firemen, amounting to
about $20,000 for the semimonthly
payroll, were signed Friday by Mayor
Woodward.

treasury, The last payroll found the

Fourth National Bank lent the need
ful money, This has been repaid, but
the $50,000 advanced the city to
pay the school teachers still is out

Students to G.N.&I.C.
MILLEDGEVILLE, Sept. 16.—
Georgia Normal and industrial Col
lege opened yesterday with the lnrg-(
est enrollment in its history and'\vith(
the greatest number of students of !
any girl’s college in the south. Twelve
passenger trains, four of them spo
clalg, brought the students to MH-‘
ledgeville.
More than 200 girls are here and
baggage cars for over 1,000 trunks
wera provided, Counting suitcases
there were at least 3,000 pileces of
bhaggage, accompanying the students.
Overt 100 automobiles were here also,
bringing girls from nearby counties.
