Clay Bagley. Miss Davis will arrive
in Atlanta December 20 from Miss
Walker's School at Simmesbury,
Conn., where she is enrolled as a stu

Writers' Club Prog‘v"lm.
The Writers’' Club met Monday aft
ernoon in Carnegie Library. The pro
gram was the reading of two origi
nal stories, “Wings of a Bird in the
Air” by Miss Elizabeth Bailey, and
“Which Shall It Be?” by Miss Fuge
nia Estill. The stories were criticized
by Miss Brent Whiteside and other
members of the club,
A collection of poems was made,
and a “poetry program” will be given
the first week in January, with Miss
Brent Whiteside making a talk on the
construction of poetry.
The constitution and by-laws were
read and approved. The following
membership committee was appoint
ed: Mrs. James Watson, Miss Cob
bie Vaughan. M\iss Adrienne Rattey

Women to Weicome Soldiers. |
Every woman in the Atlanta Wom
an’'s Club has been asked to place a
lighted candle in the window of her
home Christmas eve and Christmas
night. as a welcome to the soldiers
in Atlanta. The resolution to this
effect, which passed at the meeting
Monday afternoon, asked that every
home in the city carry out the same
hospitable greeting to the men in the
camp who pass the homes and wish
to receive a welcome.
Another feature of the meeting was
a r_solution asking that the members
pledgs themselves to give no Christ
mas presents except to one or more
soldiers who are strangers in Atlanta.

Mrs. J. W. Adams, of Waycross,
spent -several days in Atlanta en
route to Macon, where gshé will be the
guest for several weeks of her daugh

Miss Mar'e Colcord, who is a stu
dent at Goucher College, Baltimore,
Md., will spend Thanksgiving as the
guest of Mrs. Roland Harrison in New
York City. \
Miss Kathleen Corey has returned
to Birmingham, Ala., after having
spent the week-end in At'anta. She
was one of the out-of-town guests at
the dinner-dance at the Piedmont
Driving Club Saturday evening.
Mrs, Shelburne Spindle returned to
her home in Roanoke, Va., Saturday
after a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Dudley
Cfiwles. She wag entertained at a
number of social gayeties during her
visit.

her bridesmaids, Miss Patty McGehee,

The luncheon table had as a central
decoration a large silver basket of
Killarney roses, the handle tied with
flesh-colored tulle, The silver bon
bon dishes and compotes were filled
with pink and white candies and
mints, and the hand-painted place
cards were in a rose desigh,
Miss McGehee was gowned in an
afternoon tollette of black chiffon
velvet with filet lace collar and cuffs.
Miss Mobley wore a costume of gray
embroldered satin with large hat of
I'gkt blue brocaded in silver. Her
Corsage was of violets.

Each inmate of the Old Woman's
Home in West End will be given a
banquet by one of their friends, a
nrominent financier of At'anta
Thursday. There are 41 inmates in
the home.
