; A BUEHL-BUILT HOUSE. .
A few days ago we ran across some sup®r-six bungalows, lc
cated on West Twelfth and West Thirteenth streets.
It is a recommendation of the strongest kind to say that a
house was planned and built by A. B. Buehl. ;
We are now going to put on sale four of Mr. Buehl’s houses.
It will be a stroke of ggod judgment for anyone in search of a
home to buy one of them. :
Prices are $5 500 and upwards.

ATTENTION, HOME-SEEKERS!
We advise quick purchase of homes, as conditions are such
that we believe the rent-payer will soon undergo great hardships.

Judicious Investrients in
! Atlanta Realty Advised
! an
| ’ e
; By BENJAMIN R. PADGETT, JR,, *
g Superintendent of Fulton County Home Builders.
} During this strife of war, which is causing chaos in all lines of busi
'ness and affecting everybody in some way, it is well to reflect a moment
I:ln(] do some sober thinking regarding the future.
| i Much stress has been laid on the urgent needs
| - of the Y. M. C. A, the Red Cross, Liberty Bonds,
! ‘ - i ctc.—the importance of which must not be minim:
| &8 ized; but we must not lose sight of the startling
i = ; conditions confronting Atlanta. Already every hab-
SR e itable dwelling, apartment and warehouse is occu.
; ; * pied, and the hotels are turning people away. With,
| %’ s4§ “in the last year we have had 1,700 homes devastated
| M o i by fire, with an increased civil Qopulation of 20,000
R = and 30,000 soldiers,
: .. And the law of supply and demand applies te
real estate and building prices as well as to othey
commodities. :
= ; The Government has acknowledged Atlanta's
! X % strategic position as the gateway of the Southeast,
’ § oand is installing headquarters here for all divisions,
’ f&s ¢ the most recent being for railroads. Atlanta’s many
advantages are recognized, and her future firmly es
itablished. Her population will grow with greater acceleration than ever
| before,
] Therefore,-any judicious investment made in the real estate will prove
' sound; and the safest of all investments, taken in its last analysis, 18 real
| estate. There are many bargains now being offered by real estate dealers
in houses already built. Builders and workmen are seeking new build.
Ing contracts, but I believe this will soon be reversed, and plirchasers
will be seeking their lost oppertunity.
; Of course it costs more to build now, but there is positively no hopa
for prices to react as long as the war lasts, and when it ends, there
, will be still'greater demand for bii!ding supplies for devasted Europe. 1
WHEN THE INVESTOR REALIZES THAT THE PUURCHASING
‘.P()WER OF OUR MONEY HAS BEEN REDUCED TO LESS THAN 75
PER CENT EFFICIENCY, just so soon do I predict a revival of unprece
dented building activity. And this is coming ‘at an early date thorugh
necessity for accommodations to meet the demands, and the person who
has let his opportunity pass by will be in a similar position to the one who
failed to purchase his coal a few short months ago—when the dealers had
it and were begging its sale. The motto of builders and real estate men is
Hfirst come, first served,” and I give you the tip, “get busy.” -
Building Permits for
2 Bungalows Issued
M. G. Norris, builder, with offices
in the Silvey Building, Saturday was
granted two permits by the Building
Inspector for the purpose of erecting
two bungalows at a total cost of $12,-
000.
. '
The larger is to be erected for T.
J. Parker at No. 90 ®cLendon street,
at a cost of $6,500. It will bé a brick
veneer, The other will be erected by
Mr. Norris to_be placed on the realty
market later. It will cost $5,500. He
also took a permit to make repairs
on a house at No. 615 West Peachtree
street. The~work will cost approxi
mately $3,000.
Agents Take Note of
Damage to Plumbing
) At a\called meeting of the executive
committee of the Atlanta Real Estate
lßoard. Saturday morning the plumb
ing situation was discussed, with the
|result that 2 formal notice hereafter
will be issued to ‘all tenants, asking
l them to shut off water in the event of
cold weather, ‘to prevent further
plumbing damages In way of break
ing pipes.
The situation for the last month
has been so acute that the realty
board deemed this action most sig
nificant, as' hundreds of dollars have
been spent that perhaps could have
been saved had tenants observed the
rules by turning off water at night.
As an example of the effect of the
repent freeze, some houses have been
without plumbing for the last two or
three weeks, so many pipes having
burst that the- agents and plumbers
simply could not attend to all of the
complaints. s
- City Brings $12,000
- City Brings SI2,C
- The Martin-Ozburn Company, with
offices in the Third National Bank
Building, Saturday announced the
sale of a 37-acre farm for a congid
eration of $12,000. This is the larg
est price paid for this amount of
‘acreage lin many months, the price
being. paid, however, because of the
highly cultivated condition of the
land. - Names of the parties buying
and gelling were not disclosed. .
The property lis located on the trol
ley line between Decatur and Clark
ston, It was stated that a small par
cel of city property was taken as part
l payment.
