‘ARED CROSS Auxiliary has been
organized by the women of
Kirkwood, the workrooms will be lo
cated at the vacant store in Suther
land Terrace, North Kirkwood,- and
the hours will be from 10 to 5 o’clock
in the afternoon. It is hoped that all
the women of Kirkwood will co-oper
ate In giving as much of their serv
ices as possible to this war relief
work. Any information desired can
be obtained from Mrs. A. T. Branham
and Mrs. C. Henderson.

the Lakewood Heights Public School
held its regular monthly meeting last
Friday afternoon at the schoolhouse.
An Intergsting feature of the meeting
was a Highly instructive talk given
by Miss Shannon, the county expert,
on “Gardening.” Another feature of
' the meeting was a dancing number
glven by Misses Lorraine Whitney
'and Pricilla Munn, of Lakewood
Heights.
The Forget-Me-Not Club of Lake
wood Helghts met last Tuesday aft
ernoon at the home of Mrs. L. E.
Brown on Lakewood avenue. Despite
the inclement weather, a goodly
number was present. Mrs. R. M.
Stripling gave a very interesting talk
on Red Cross work. Sandwiches, cof
fee and cake were served. Among
those present were Mrs, R. M. Strip
ling, a guest of the club; Mrs. Edgar
Davis, Mrs. John Ayers, Mrs. L. R.
Hopkins, Mrs. R. H. Poole, Mrs. F. F.

The many friends of Mrs. J. S.
Poole, of Brown Mill road, will be
glad to hear that she is much im
proved in health. Mrs. Poole return
ed only last week from a private
sanitarium, where she has been se

Lakewood Heights, left last week for
Charlotte, N. C., where they will
make their future home.
An Interesting wedding of the
past week was that of Miss FElla
Ceavy, of McDonough road, to Clif
ford Herring, which took palce last
Monday evening. It was a very qiuet
affair and only a few relatives and
close friends were present.
Mr, and Mrs. J. C. Elliott, of Lavo
nia, spent the week-end last week
with Mrs. J. R. Moon, Mrs. Elliott’s
sister, at her home on McDonough
road.
The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. E.
W, Walter, of McDonough road, was
buried last Wednesday afternoon in
Antioch churchyard, McDonough
road.

the Milton Avenue Pu}{lic School met
last Thursday afternon at the school.

wiches for the entertainment to be
given the Camp Gordon soldiers on
Washington's birthday at the Audi
torium were: Mrs. Kjorsted, Mrs.
Hamby, Mrs. Willlam Zinc and Mrs.
L. E. Dease. Misses Willie Fincher,
Estelle Weaver and Miss Beburg,
teachers of the Milton Avenue
School, will also asist in entertain
ing during the afternoon at the lunch
tables in Taft Hall
Mr, and Mrs. Paul Alexander Duke,
of Milton avenue, have: been visiting
in Arcadia, Jacksonville and St. Au
gustine, Fla. They will soon leave
for a brief visit to Tampa, where
'Mrs. Duke will remain over next
'week. Mr. Duke returned to Atlanta
last Thursday.
Lieutenant James B. Cutler and
;Lleutenant Clifton Wilson, of Camp
Gordon, were guests at dinner last
