Its New York presentation until early
in August, will be the attraction at
the Atlanta Theater Thursday night,
when it will begin an engagement of
three nights and Saturday matinee.
The piece is having a preliminary
tour of four weeks and the company
will be kept intact for the Broadway
offering, so local theatergoers may be
assured they will sce an “original”
cast., .
The production is made under the
direction of Lea Herrick and Julian
Alfred in association with A, 8. Stern
& Co., and it was Mr, Stern who pre
sented “Twin Beds” !ere earlier in
the season. He has used the same
care in sclecting the cast and chorus
for his new musical play that he did
for “T'win Beds,” and has spared no
expense in the matter of scenery and
costumes, “Keep Smiling” s de
scribed by the producers as a musical
nonsensity, The “plotless plot” has
been written by Bide Dudley, the well
known columnist of the New York
Evening Worid, whose “Lucille, the
Waltress,” and other creations of his
facile pen are known the country
over.
The music, and there is a great deal
of it, I 8 by Fred Grant and T. B.
Harms, and the lyrics by Schuyler
Green, all skilled in providing musical
comedy. For the featurrd members
of the cast Mr, Stern has scleoted
Muriel Window, recently of vaudeville,
and Dave Ferguson, one of the best
of our light comedians and for the
past two years the chief fun maker
in “Very Good Eddie.” There is a
long list of principals which lneludel
Madeline Nash, Mary Jane Woodyatt, |
John Dyer and Hervey Hume, and,
of course, an unusually attractive
chorus assembled by Mr. Herrick.
The production was staged by Mr.
Alfred, who has made a specialty of
muhical comedies and who has di
rected a number of Broadway's big
gest successes. Seats for the engage

The management of the Lyrie
promises, in the announcement of the
bills of the current week, ten leading
Keith acts El{lmch are expected thor

the popular vaudeville palace.
The Lyric crowds, bigger than ever
now that weather has improved, have

range his bills so that every act is
one of proved worth,
This week the two top attractions
will be the premiere ballerina, L.a

dancers and a- musical comedy gem
that is one of the big hits of the year.
La Bernicia and her sextette of
beautiful girls nhead the Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday show in an
offering of most extravagant propor
tions.
Fred Wayne, Lorette Marshall and‘
Truscilla Candy promise another at
tractive feature in their novelty song
and comedy turn, “The Intruder,” one
of the genuine nove’ty surprises of
vaudeville, ‘
Dublin Circus and Picadilly meet on
London bridge in the turn to be pre

splendid exponents of KEnglish and
Irish comedy. The act has an eccen
tric dance finale that is a winner,
- Kennedy and Bert will be seen in
a comedy sketch under the titie of
["Ga.gsed. Married and Divorced,” an
‘act as full of comedy surprises as its
title suggests, and Richard Wally
'will uphold his title of fancy juggler
‘and bitliardist in presenting his nov

The musical comedy headliner for
the last half of the week is a merry
offering ecalled “The International
Revue,” and filled wtih new songs,
bright comedy, gorgeous costumes
and splendid scenic effects. Ten peo

pretty and comedians who are funny.
Suzanne Rocamoram, star of the fa

a novelty singing offering, “At the
Ladies’ Club.” The act is the popular
Jean Havez satire told in lyrics and
has made mest emphatic hits in other
cities.
Paul Nevins and Ruby Erwood in a

ises to be one of the great events in
the history of Atlanta vaudeville, will
be shown at Loew's Grand Theater
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of
this week. The bill contains eighteen
girls, a rare combination of feminine
pulehritude and cleverness which has
been gathered together to form one
program and show what the members
of the weaker but more aliuring sex
can do In the way of furnishing en
tertainment without the assistance of
a single male,
The company offers five acts of ex
eeptional merit. In adidtion, however,
at both performances Tuesday night
there will be an extra attraction
which should prove a knoekout. Thisg
is the all-girl cabaret which tha
members of the company have origi

of Josie Flynn, and in which all the
members of the company are present
on the stage at once and cach per
forms some stunt differing entirely
from those she does in her act.
“Women,” a delightful skit, will be
another big hit on the bill. It is a
clever discussion of matrimony in
which three attractive girls take part.
Grace Edmonds, a popular mausical
comedy star and late feature of “Oh,
Delphine,” knows all the latest song
hits and just how to put them over,
and will be a delightful addition to
the program. The three Manning
girls, slim, captivating misses with a
wealth of stumming gowns, will offer

City Council Asks State Commis
sion to Help Atlanta Get Bet
‘
er Baggage Service.
R N
The special committee of Couneil
appointed to investigate the Atlanta
Baggage and Cab Company Saturday
announced that the Georgia Railroad
Commission is to be asked to aid in
securing better transfer service in At
ianta by speeding up the baggage de-
Hveries of the terminal company. In
the recommendation of the committee
to the Railroad Commission it is
stated that the terminal company has
supervision over the baggage company
and two of the five baggage company
directors are interested in the termi
nal ecompany, while ano*her ig an offi.
cer of one of the railroads entering
Atlanta.
The recommendations of the com
mittee, which will be sent to the Rail
road Commission, with the approval
of the Council committee on freight
rates and transportation, are as fol
lows:
That the existing contract be
tween the terminal company
and the Atlanta Baggage and Cab
Company clearly sets forth that
the Terminal Company has the
supervision of the cab ecompany’s
work at the Terminal Station.
That two of the five directors
in the baggage company are in
terested in the Atlanta Terminal
Company, and another is an offi
cer of omne of the railroads enter
ing the Terminal Station.
That the terminal company’s
representatives state that approx
tmately 2,500 pieces of baggage
are handled daily by the terminal
company and about 60 of these
are passed through the hands of
the baggage and cab company.
That the terminal company's
representatives consider one hour
as sufficient time to deliver a
trunk from a train to the Atlanta
Baggagze and Cab Company. |
That two men are all the force
which the terminal cagnpany de- |
votes to transferring this, bag
gage, one for each twelve hours.
By observation of the commit
tee, the delivery of the baggage
from the trains to the baggage I
and cab company is slow. A spe
cific case being a trunk received
at 7:15 in the morning and deliv
ered to the Atlanta Baggage and
Cab Company at 3:10 in the aft
ernoon; this being one of a num
ber of cases, and the time which
elapses runs all the way from four
to twelve hours. ,
That it is very apnarent that
the terminal company has not
sufficient force of men to deliver
baggage promptly to the baggage
and cab company.
The baggage and cab company’s
officials claim that they have re
quested better service on a num
ber of occasions, but it seems to
the committee that owing to the
interlocking directorate between
the termings company and the
Atlanta Baggage and Cab Com
pany that the terminal company
can practically do what is pleases.
We, therefore, respectfully refer
this portion of our findings to the
Rilroad T'ommission, as they have
the entire jurisdiction over the
terminal company.
The committee also recommended
amendments to th epresent baggage
and cab ordinance fixing the corner
of Broad and Alabama streets as the

his mettle. He must be able to play eqaully
well tn the ninth and first innings, for no score
is closed while a single batter has an unpitched
ball shead of him. Since I have made Nuxated
Iron a part of my regular training, 1 have found
myself possessed of strength, power and stamina
to meet the most severe strains.””
Joe Jackson, star batter of the Chicago ‘“White
Sox,”” Winners of the last World’'s Championship
Baseball Series, said: ‘“Nuxated Iron certainly
makes a man a live wire and gives him the
‘never-say-die’ strength and endurance. When I
soe in the papers ‘Jackson's batting was responsi
ble for the Chicago victory,” 1 feel like adding
to it—'Nuxated Iron puts the power behind the
bat and gives the needad punch to every play.’”
In the office of his manager on Broadway, Freddie
Hill when champion endurance racer of the werld,
said: “In no test of endurance and stamina do
men need such tremendous reserve strength and
power as in a six-day bicycle race. Doctors have
always told me, and I believe I have proven it
in my own case, that the blood must be filled
with iron to stand the terrific strain on mind and
body. Peoplo marvel al my great strength and
‘sndnrmeo and wonder how I ‘Came back’ so

inflicting concussion of the brain. The secret is
Nuxated Iron. It has put the old-time ‘pep’ and
vim in my blood, and actually made me a stronger
and better man than I was at any previous time
in my whole career.”” Commenting upon the re
markable results which Nuxated Iron has produced
for these and other athleths in so many branches
of sport, Dr. James Francis Sullivan, formerly
physician of Bellevue Hospital (Outdoor Dept.)
New York and the Westchester County lospital,
said: “‘There are thousands of men and women
who need & strength and blood builder, but do
not know what to take. In my owan opimdon there
i 8 nothing better than organic iron—Nuxated
Tron—for enriching the blood and helping to in
crease the strength and endurance of men and
women who burm up too rapidly their nervous
energy in the strenuous strain of the great business
competition of the day. Nuxated Iron helps give
a man the power to put forth the extra effort
necessary to win, whether it be in athleties or
commercial life.
But you can't make strong, vigorous, successful,
sturdy iron men by feeding them metallic fron,
any more than you can build up strength and
health by feeding a man on hay. The old forms
central point for computing cab and
baggage charges, and requiring that
zone rates be plainly Bhown by maps
inside all taxicabs, and on large maps
in front of the two depots. The col
lection of fares in advance or the issu
ance of tickets to passengers and the
marking of charges on baggage claim
checks is also to be required, as out
lined in The Atlanta Georgian Thurs
day.
Citizens are asked to file future
complaints of the service of the bag

the committee on freight rates and
transportation at the City Hall, and
such complaint will be heard by the
