Fight Stop Poker Raid
An automobile accident and a bull
dog fight so seriously interfered with
a raid by --lice, detectives and mili
tary police on a supposed poker game
at No. 40 Cooper street Sunday after
noon that all of the supposed prey es
caped, with the exception of two men.
both of whom gave the house as their
address.
The military police patrol collided
with a touring car at Whitehall and
Hunter streets, delaying the arrival
of the soldiers on the scene. No one
was injured, however. The city police
and detectives arrived all right, but
before they could raid the place two
bulldogs on the inside began fighting.
By the time the officers could get in
the house they found everything se
rene, so far as a poker game was con
cerned. Officers who had gone to the
rear, however, said cards were thrown
out of the back windows. The two
men arrested gave their names as W,
R. L. Morgan and Brooks Brown.
