PARE, (by mall).~What the Belgians

ernor-Ceneral of their troubled little
country, is shown in an editorial printed
in La ldibre Be )gi(fue. the famous news
paper whose publishers baffled all es
forts of the German Secret Service dur
ing the German ogeupation by regular
Iy producing the paper and distributing it
in flance of German orders
“Von Bissing,” wrote the editor, “was

idiocy, cruelty and foolish ride of that

Von Bissing's rule in Belgium has
shown us what the rule of German
militarism would have heen had the
stroke planned been successful. The Ger
man junker spirit was not changed in
vor Hissing by his residence in H«Tu:um,
He came to Belgium not to rule provif
iona over oocupied territory, but to
rule 48 A COuqUeror over new provinces
of the German Empire, He kept this
conception of his task until the last mo- |
me even in death and In his will
Nothing that he saw in ouwr country had
any influence on him. When he ar
rived here he knew what he was going
to 4o what e ought to see, or at
lenst what he ought to affirm he saw,
and he did so
“He affirmed that we were ‘low Ger
mans’ who had become outcasts In con
sequence of our separathon from the
Germanic States; that we were Incapa- |
ble of governing ourselves; that we
were an inferior peaple lo the Germans,
that It was Germany’'s mission to render
us kultured To do this It was neces
gary that Germany should use every co- |
ercive measure against us, These means
were terror, imprisonment, execution n!‘
patriots, deportations. KEvery violence
was perpetrated. every crime practiced,
But violence, torture and muarder were
not the worst ‘
“The worst was the hyy{mcrw of Von
Bissing himself, who, while he was act
ing in this odious manner, never ceased
to declare that he was doing so in our
interest, that his was a mission of civ
flization. Worse than all, he proclaimed
that our elite were ‘mluful to him, and
that as proof of his beneflcent rule lha{
people in the street bowed to him. |
“He was surrounded by wwd of
would-be intellectuals who for 40
yvears heen charged by Germany to muu‘
about with the ma{) and history to show
wther peoples that Burope was Germanic,
und that German genius would regen

Is Your Blood Starving for Want of Iron?
Modern Methods of Cooking and Living Have Made'an Alarming Increase
in Iron Deficiency in Blood of American Men and Women
Why Nuxated Iron So Quickly Builds Up Weak, Nervous, Run
down Folks—Over 3,000,000 People Annually Taking It in
This Country Alone to Increase Their Strength, Power, En
ergy and Eudurance.”
“Is your blood starving for want of iron? If you were to go without
eating until you became weak, thin and emaciated, you could not do a
more serious harm to your_se!t ugan wneu you let your»blood literally starve
for want of iron—iron that gives it strength and
power to change food into living tissue,” says Dr.
James Francis Sullivan, formerly physician of Belle
vue Hospital (Outdoor Dept.), New York, and the
Westchester County Hospital.
“Modern methods of cooking and the rapid pace
at which people of this country live has made such
an alarming Increase in iron deficiency in the blood
of American men and women that I have often mar
veled at the large number of people who lack iron
in the blood, and who never suspect the cause of
their weak, nervous, run-down state. Lack of iron
in the blood not only makes a man a physical and
mental weakling, nervous, irritable, easily fatigued,
but it utterly robs him of that virile force, that stam
fna and strength of will which are so necessary to
success and power in every walk of life. It may also
transform a beautiful, sweet-tempered woman into
one who is cross, nervous and irritable.
“I have strongly emphasized the great
necessity of physicians making bloed exam
inations of their weak, anaemic, ru&-down
patients. Thousands of persons go on year
after year suffering from physical weakness
and a highly nervous condition’due to lack
of sufficient iron in their red blood corpus
¢les without ever realizing the real and true
cause of their trouble. Without iron in
your blod your food merely passes th’ough
the body, something like corn through an
oil mill with rollers so wide apart that the
mill can't grind.
“For want of iron you may bepg old
man at thirty, dull of intellect, r in
memory, nervoas, irritable and all ‘run
down,’ while at 50 or 60 with plenty of
iron in your blood you may still be young
in feeling, full of life, your whole being
brimming over with vim and energy.
“As proof of this take the case of Former
United States Senator and Vice-Presidential
nominee Charles A. Towne, who at past 58
is still a veritable mountain.of tireless en
ergy. Senator Towne says: ‘I have found
Nuxated Iron of the greatest bhenefit as a
tonic and regulative. Henceforth 1 shall
not be without it. I am in a positien to
testify for the benefit of others to the re
markable and immediate helpfulness of this
remedy, and 1 unhesitatingly recommend
Nuxated Iron to~those who feel the need of
rene¥ed energy and the regutarity of bodily
functions.”
