PARIS, Jan. 10 (by mail).—Elimi
nation of restrictions on nearly all
articles of food except sugar, choco
late and bread in Paris restaurants,
has caused a renewal of the demand
that cases be permitted to refnain
open after 9:30 o'clock in the eve
ning.
Restauranteurs declare that it is
mnfair to permit cases in Lille, Metz
and Coblentz to remain open until 11
o'cloek and midnight while they are
compelled to close earlier. There is a
great scarcity of eggs, milk, butter
and cheese in the Paris restaurants
which is attributed largely to the sea
son of the year. |
~ Hospitals are finding Adifficulty in
obtaining supplies for patients, But
‘in the “American bars” there appar
‘ently is a plentiful supply of eggs for
“flips” and “noggs.”
~ _The use of bread tickets {8 expect
ed to be discontipued within two
months and indications are that the
sugar supply will permit the uyse of
that article in coffee, tea and deserts
within three months.
Bread is almost white now, but it
has not the shortening in it which
made the pre-war product so deli
cious for breakfast.
